Tuesday August 31, 2021

The streets were pretty wet when we went for our walk this morning, meaning we had another little rain overnight.  It has been threatening and spitting most of the day but nothing has developed so our lake has diminished a lot.

We went to keep a 7:30 "appointment" with our vet John Faber Rojas but had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen.  I love John like a brother but appointments are a joke, we always have to wait and wait.  But, the flip side of that is that the man is thorough and knowledgeable....  He is the best so he is in big demand.  We had brought in Zorra to see about her many issues but primarily her vomiting most of what she eats and her constant "coughing" to clear her throat.  John checked her thoroughly and gave her 3 different shots and a prescription.  Honestly I am not sure the full result but Cristina does, and that is what matters.

We had brunch at Bizcochito and came home to nap.  Then we gave Zorra another medicated shampoo bath.  That is really helping to alleviate her skin problems.

At 2pm we were at Cielo's for our ultrasound treatments.  Yuri accompanied us again, she is such a good dog.  Cielo is enjoying practicing English with me and is amazing with her proper pronunciation.  Cristina just can't seem to get past the hard single pronunciation of vowels in Spanish.  Their vowels have one sound, one only,... not multiple sounds like in English.

We then went to deliver diapers we had bought to Ana Julia and to bring her to a Gane (lottery) office to pick up her monthly Government stipend.  I am not sure if it a pension or not and I have no idea why Gane administers this.  We followed Miguel to a different office that we normally took her to get her money.  While the lineup was only about 6 people long, it took an houur to get to the front.   Grrrrrrrrrrrrr  I still don't know why we are the ones doing this errand when it is about 5 blocks from Adiela's and 12 kms from us.....

Then I slipped over to pay my health insurance, we dropped off Ana Julia and headed towards Power Pizza, but they're closed on Tuesdays.. Drat!

We came back and went to the 2 shoemakers where Cristina has multiple shoes in for repair.  She came home with only one pair finished so far....

We went by the Hamburgo place and they were setting up and we went to sit down, but they said they don't open for another 1/2 hour, at 5pm, so we left...

I was all excited when I got an email from Colombian External Affairs but that excitement quickly faded when I read the attached PDF "resolution".  I had Cristina read it to confirm, but I often think that she doesn't grasp written Spanish that well.  The long and short of it is that it appears to be a refusal to grant me citizenship which boggles my mind when I meet all the criteria and am married to a Colombian national........  I am so disappointed, and scared now that my other Visa and Cedula have expired....  I have sent the documents to Miguel to review for confirmation.   Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Miguel just called and said that while he does not have a grasp of all Colombian laws, the letter I just received said that they will not grant citizenship to someone with a Migrante Visa (Extranero) which is what I have.  I apparently need to have a Resident Visa for 2 years now for that to happen........  So more bloody red tape and money down the bloody drain..........

By the way, I really do want to give another big THANK YOU to my faithful followers.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Monday August 30, 2021

The rain started with  large thunderstorm and kept on for many hours.  The story of the day is the lake in the backyard again, probably the biggest we have ever had.  Hey, I like moisture, but in proper doses please...

The plants love the rain so the roses are blooming and beautifying the place.  Nina2 is the water baby of our dogs, enjoying running through the lake at will.  I expected the house to be much messier but most of the dogs are showing restraint.  We had to move the feeding station for the birds to the north wall.

I have been watching "Yellowstone" at David's suggestion and it is as good as advertised.  It is not on Netflix so I have had to download the torrents off of P*rate B*y.  I am 1/2 way through Season 1 already and downloaded Seasons 2 and 3 today.

I ran Cristina in to work with stray dogs with Adiela so I have a lazy afternoon with my doggies.  A little wind-down time again.

Oh!  I think I originally misread the email from External Affairs.  After a better look, I think I am OK with the Resident Visa application and will confirm that soon.  Crossing my fingers.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  No captions needed.

That was the day’s excitement.
