Wednesday I got a good suggestion to name my little ride buddy Fonzie!  That works because it ties in with my full name.... (Don't ask..).  Thank you Sis for responding.

Oh my hands hurt like crazy all day and I refused to take painkillers for that..  In hindsight, I should have... that is what they are for...  So I just did...

My neighbour across the way, Gary, invited me in to see his hobby, making a mountainous scene for model railroaders!   So many people have such hidden talents...

Thursday I got up in time to get ready for my booster shot for Covid.  They actually called me to go down early because they were way ahead of schedule so I didn't have time to shower, but I checked that I didn't stink, lol...  So now I have had 2 Sinovac, 2 Pfizer, and now 2 Moderna, so I should be well covered.  I didn't even feel the shot at all, just late at night the arm was sore.

I cut my hair for summer again so I don't have to worry about wind or caps or whatever.  That is so much easier than worrying that my combover is somewhere in place, lol.  Just kidding, I don't do combovers...

Ghyslaine was not feeling well so she asked me if I could drive her to see a townhouse bungalow she was wanted to investigate for rental.  So we took her big Ford and got there on time.  The dining area was miniscule, the closet space skimpy, and it was a long walk to the parking, so I dodn't think she will take a further look.  Plus they wanted a person to supply a police check and reference for 10 years from previous landlords...  That did not go over well with Ghyslaine.

Gary across the way is a golfer and he had me order him 6 golf shirts which arrived and he was so thrilled that he gave me a big tip,... and it wasn't just "Don't eat yellow snow" Lol...

Today, Bob called and asked me to research repair shops for his ailing Bissell upright, which I did, and none are particularly close, but it helped him decide where he wanted to go.

On Facebook, our musical Metis friends (cousins) Darla Daniels and Mat Patenaude had advertised an Indigenous Celebration downtown so I made a point of attending.  But, I underestimated 7C in a strong wind and froze not only my butt to stay and watch almost all of it.  They had artists, dancers, and musicians and free food.  One kind lady sent me over a warm tea to unstick me from my Gio.  They had Bannock Burgers and Bannock Bits for everyone.  I did not realize that bannock was so soft and sweet.  Here is a video composite of some of the action:

I have been home for 3 hours now and I am still frozen... despite a lousy heating pad.  Reminder:  Never buy from WagJag again.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Tuesday April 23, 2024

It has been a while between Blogs again as the weather continues to be bothersome, cool and windy, keeping me inside.

Friday, a City transformer blew to the south, shutting off all power for blocks around from 8am to 10am.  When we lose either power or water we can't do much.  With no electricity, it is hard to even pass the time...

I had Bob over for hamburgers as he struggles with medical issues and itchiness.  I am thankful for good books to read while I watch TV, like the movie Transporter for the umpteenth time and some old Archie Bunker episodes which I have available 24-7.

Saturday, I awoke groggily after 12 hours sleep and did a lot of reading to finish another Nelson DeMille book in this series.

Sunday was exceedingly windy but I rode my Gio to the Library to exchange for the last 2 DeMille books in the John Corey series.  These are a great read, and I read 208 pages once I got home...  and... the NHL Playoffs are on....

Monday was again really windy so I stayed inside and checked my Lotto numbers online.  Naturally I did not win anything.  I noted that I would have won at least a free play if I had played my numbers in the earlier draw.  I have zero luck at gambling....

So, what I did next made a lot of sense, I spent $100 to get 550 tickets in the Oilers 50-50 draw which will be in the millions...  I would be happy winning anything...

And, boredom made me order more stuff, mostly automatic belts, from Temu.

Bob informed me that he has scabies now, mites that get under the skin and live in the folds of the skin and burrow under to lay eggs.  And they thrive in towels and bedding, so poor Bob is washing everything in his place and has a home-care nurse to help him with ointments.  I had a spare bedding set that I have never used, so I gave that to him, but I am avoiding contact for a while.  I rarely visit his place anymore anyway because my clothes reek of smoke when I return.

Today spring arrived and the thermometer reads 20C and the leaves are still.

Adel from the office called me to see if I still had copies of the photos I took for her of her hubby's 60th birthday celebration.  Of course I did, so I transferred them onto her memory stick.

Then I jumped on the Gio and went out to eat, this time at Wendy's, where I do not remember the last time I graced their doors...  I got a Baconator combo that I could barely finish, and the pull-apart Cinnabon special which I took for home.  They even gave me a 10% senior's discount, so I will go back there soon!

On the way there I had stopped at Vinnie's Treasure House, mooning over antiques that I have no room for, but I did buy a new riding buddy that I need to name yet (he's a slothful character... hint, hint..).  Help me out here guys....  He is in the first 2 photos, but then maybe he is a she???

Then I went North and, on a whim, because I was only a couple of blocks away from her house, called old friend of the family, Bea Rankin, who had worked with Patsy for many years.  She was available, so we had a nice chat on her porch, in the sun, complaining about death and taxes....

Then I came back south to the North Saskatchewan, the Ninth Street bridges, and the Legislature.  It was another Alberta blue sky day for lovely photos.

And as I came back around to the North of the Legislature, I came across what I thought was a small cheeleader group practising, but I asked and they said they were a U of A dance team.  It looked like 5 female dancers at first glance but closer inspection made me doubt that 1, or maybe 2 were really girls.  Welcome to the 21st Century folks...

I sure do hope that forecasted rain will eventually happen...  It is so dry here, the humidity is only 14%....

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
