Today is the FIFTH Anniversary of my bike accident where I broke my neck in the Andes near Soldados. Thank God my friend Gustavo was with me. I can only imagine what was going through his mind dealing with me, getting an ambulance, and getting our bikes home. Then when we had to deal with the hospital who did quick tests and told me nothing was wrong, go home... even though I was completely paralysed!!! Then Thank God for another biking friend, Dr Juan who worked there and soon had 5 experts from various departments at my gurney. An MRI finally diagnosed the broken neck. 8 days later I could move with help and they operated and fused my C5-6 discs through the base of my neck. 13 days later I was walking home with a walker. I did many physio visits and continue to do exercises every morning as they directed back then. I can function but my neurological system will obviously never be normal. Everything works, just not like before. I am so thankful for my good friends and my lovely wife for getting me through that initial period.
Somehow my Motorola phone completely discharged overnight even with minimal use. I will have to monitor this. Maybe it is time to replace the battery,... or the phone...
The rain was again falling this morning at 4:15am so we all went back to bed after confirming that we were not driving into Tulua today. That will happen tomorrow, early... When I got up, I cut my own hair, something I have been meaning to do for a few days.
Poor Hanna worries me when she sleeps in the same stretched out position, barely moving, even when we walk right next to her. She is increasingly inactive and I think her end is near despite our valiant efforts to prolong her life.
RedBubble lost the only upload I tried this morning. Too bad, because it was a beauty.
From the Powerpoint that I made of the Paso Fino horses last night I found the way to make it into a movie that could be uploaded to YouTube... I was surprised that it uploaded rather quickly despite being a large file.
