I posted this to my website  http://saccc05.tripod.com/  yesterday.

~~ May 2014 Announcement ~~
We are excited to launch Souvenir Photo Studio in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Please contact us for any type of custom photography work desired.
Portrait sessions may be arranged with pleasing choices of natural or rejuvenated results.

Examples with celebrity photos:
Pam - Original Original             Pam - Rejuvenated Rejuvenated

Mary - original Original                  Mary - rejuvenatedRejuvenated

Contact us at  souvenirphotostudio@gmail.com  to arrange your session!

This is something that I have been planning for some time and I am finally gonna get off my duff and give it a shot.
I have set up a room in my house, arranged a couple of backdrops, arranged lighting variations, and picked up a few props.
I won't be charging much because this is more for fun than for work, although the intention is to build up a travel fund by doing so.
I have a few programs to help with portraiture and it is hoped that some folks will enjoy the reduction of a few years, etc.

The beginnings of my little studio

A few fun props won't hurt...
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Friday April 25, 2014
I spent most of the day working on the new proposed BBQ event for Hearts Of Gold.  There are still many questions to be answered but we can see the shape of it coming together.  Again, reserve the date for July 5th.
Then I got an order for 37 of my photos from yesterday from the owners of the rose farm we visited.   They loved my work and want to revamp their website using my photos.  I was tickled pink, so this will be the beginning of a new travel fund for me.  One of these days I will get the gumption to launch my portrait studio but first I want to do a couple of practice sessions.
Then I went out and got myself an authentic Ecuadorian roommate.  He's small and wiry, and travels light, and he promises to keep us stocked with fresh meat.   I found him a place on the shelf in the kitchen where he can keep a lookout.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

He looks like a pretty good hunter, don't you think?

Definitely small and wiry

Must have pygmy blood

That arrow is longer than he is

He is a study of concentration

He isn't scared to hunt at night either

He's not much of a talker...

Thursday April 24, 2014
I finally broke down and joined the "Cuenca For Expats" group that is run by the local Chamber Of Commerce.   They do several trips per year for members only and today was my first such trip.
We went out past Biblian to visit the Trebol Roses operation, run by Juan Carlos and Rosana.  Their website is www.trebolroses.com.   Few people know that, besides bananas, Ecuador is the world's largest exporter of roses!  When Mother's Day comes very quickly, those roses you buy could very well come from nearby here.
The story is fascinating and the growing process is complex ..., from micro-organisms to irrigation and fungi, there is much to know to be successful and profitable.
It is odd to stand next to 6-7 foot stems of roses in greenhouses containing thousands of buds waiting to be harvested.  Varieties and colours are strictly enforced and few growers take the gamble to bring out new varieties.  Just like fashion, rose colours have their cycles of popularity.
The growing operation is on the site of their family dairy operation (handy fertilizer) which has been here for over 100 years.   After the tour of the greenhouses we were invited for a delicious lunch, juices and dessert in their magnificent hacienda, which is just their weekend home I am sorry to say, and which houses many, many collected antiques.  We were just drooling over many artifacts contained here.
Thank you to Veronica from the Chamber Of Commerce for organizing this trip, and to Juan Carlos and Rosana for being such personable and lovely hosts.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
