Happy Easter everyone!!

After a strangely poor sleep Friday night I was slow to get going.  We watched some curling and hockey before I needed to prepare to go to N.E. Edmonton for an Easter meal.

I left a little early because the Library was open and 2 of my Nelson DeMille books were ready for pickup.  I had a third one on hold, but cancelled that because Don gave me a paperback copy of that one.

I had taken the LRT and an announcement stunned me that the line I was taking was closed for track maintenance between Coliseum and Clareview stations... but they had buses to take us that stretch thankfully.   The transit police were nabbing many people who had not paid this way.  Anyway, I made it to Clareview station and my cousin Jeanne's friend Meng was there to pick me up.

At Jeanne's place, one of her church friends named Janet joined us and we had some lively discussions before the delicious turkey meal, topped off with tiramisu supplied by Meng, and butterscotch rhubarb crisp baked by Jeanne, washed down with wine from Italy, also supplied by Meng...

I was stuffed when I got home but surprisingly not tired, so I watched "The Magnificent Seven" while reading one of the new books until 2am...

Today was simple, up late and do chores, and then go with Bob at 3pm to the Commercial Hotel on Whyte Avenue to listen to Leo and Braden again.  The day was sunny and 9C but a persistent east wind was bitingly cold.  We can't wait for Tuesday when it is supposed to hit 20C then cool off again.  Drat!  And it is supposed to rain tonight, which will help clean up the snow, salt and dirt and dust...

We tried to order pizza from Grandma Pizza when we got home but they are closed for several days.  Drat!  So I dressed warmer and went to L'il Caesar's for a ready-to-go 3-meat medium pizza which Bob and I devoured.

Now I am watching a replay of this morning's curling match between Canada's Gushue and last year's Worlds Men's winner Mouwat from Scotland.  I already know that we won 8-4, and have set the alarm for 6am for the match against tough Italy...

I hope you enjoy the pictures which Google has again managed to mangle the order...   Jeeeezzzz.  That was the day’s excitement.

Jeepers!  6 days since the last Blog!  That certainly must be a record since the end of 2016!

Last Sunday was the culmination of the Women's Curling and my Team Homan from our beloved Canada took home the Gold again from the previous 4-time champs from Switzerland...  The amazing Koreans beat Italy for the Bronze.  Between those games and the Oiler loss later, I actually made a yummy macaroni with tomato sauce meal that I shared with Bob,... with enough left over for the two of us on Monday.

Monday I got off my butt, because Bob said the laundry room was deserted, and I took down a huge load of clothes and bedding and towels.  That is a lot of work, but it is always satisfying when it is done, and the wardrobe is again available.  Then I watched 2 Godfather movies while I read my book.

Tuesday I got the poster frame from Amazon to attach to my poster of Cristina.  While both end were magnetic to hold the poster, and probably sufficient..., I glued and clamped them on the poster so I would not have to worry about it.  I am pleased with the result and I have it hung here, right next to the computer.

Wednesday I got the Mastercard and Visa statements for payment.  After conversations with Bob who says that his buddies who owe him money always pay at the end of the month when they know they get their pension of GST cheques.  It dawned on me that the credit card companies also know that.....

I got on the Edmonton Public Library site and ordered the first 3 books of the Nelson DeMille series that I am reading.  The first one they had to get from an outside library.  I will pick them up after Easter.

Since Wednesday was the only above-0C day of the week, basically, I used the opportunity to make a run for groceries to Save-On.  Again, they had no specials on the salad kits so I actually found a round, heavy green cabbage to cut up and mix with my leftover purple cabbage..  That cost me the same as a single salad kit!

Thursday I cooked up 1/3 of a pork tenderloin that I had in the freezer for a while, actually a gift from Bob.  That made for a nice lunch, and late supper after watching the Oilers win in the evening.

In the afternoon, I slipped down to the garage and cleaned up my Gio, and also did some cleaning on Bob's and Bernie's.

When I returned home, after seeing many ads I think from Crave about the new Jake Gyllenhaal version of the movie Road House, I checked on my Amazon Prime account and found the movie and watched it.  It was a good action movie, quite different than the Patrick Swayze version.  One of the strutting bad guy roles was perfect for UFC legend Conor McGregor.

After a rare poor sleep last night, I was up in time to go for lunch with my niece Dawn, who is always good for spirited stories of life outside the Old-Folks' Home.  Then I had a quick nap.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
