Sunday July 31, 2022

How many people would remember that today is the 35th Anniversary of the Black Friday Tornado in Edmonton in 1987.  I remember it vividly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmonton_tornado

I wasn't going to walk the dogs this morning because I got to bed late trying to see my fave Amanda Nunes regain her bantamweight title in the UFC (which she did).  But, at 5:45am I decided that it was quiet enough on a Sunday to risk 1/2 our route.  It was actually strange walking the dogs in the dawn light and being able to see buildings and distances...

The water pressure was next to nothing most of the day but recently came back to normal.

Cristina had to go into Tulua to help Adiela with animals again so we drove her in.  4 co-pilots this day...

On the way back, I filled Lizzie's tank for the trip to Pereira tomorrow.  The stress of continuously driving there for this blasted Visa, etc is getting to me.  I still have to find out from Luz Dary what some of the documents are that they are asking for.  Hopefully she will respond in the morning.

I took a break from writing this Blog to go see what the neighbour is doing to the open lot beside us.  I could hear the backup beepers all day.  They are doing some digging but I am no wiser as to what they may do there, maybe finally building something, since they have dug a bit of a hole and brought dirt to the lot....  It was a surprise to see a Yellow-Headed Caracara, and then a goat....

I also happened to see a man entering the ugly house on the corner that has been closed up for the 4 years I have been here.  Maybe once a month I would see some windows open to air the place on a weekend.  The man claimed that he lived there and that it was not for sale....  Oh well....

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Saturday July 30, 2022

The walk was back to relatively quiet again this morning, thank the Lord, and I had all 4 dogs with me.  There is one white dog that is up on the open 3rd floor of a building around the corner and he barks at us for a whole block whether he can see us or not.

I have not been able to check my online banking with CIBC for 2 days now, very strange...  I finally phoned and got through.  Yes, they are having problems and expect to have it fixed this afternoon or evening...  It is past 5pm and it is still down...

I have mostly insect photos again today as I spotted the dragonflies still cruising our lake which had subsided enough for  me to get closer today to this one tree they like to stop on.  I am quite pleased with the shots today.

I made pork chops for lunch, so everybody had a good feed, including all 12 dogs.  Then, since Cristina has had 3 months to make my Mom's oatmeal squares recipe and hasn't, even though I brought most of the right ingredients from Canada, I became a baker too today.  I think I misjudged the heat of our gas oven and left them in just a bit too long, but the squares are still edible, and they are just for me anyway...

I took Cristina in to have late lunch and a day with her sister, Adiela.  Our 3 co-pilots enjoy and excuse to ride in the car....

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Pretty colour on this Dragonfly

He is very striking

He let me get pretty close

This guy has nice colours too

I wonder how long they will hang around?

I would be happy if they stayed.

Better angles today

Nice to have them help in the yard.

Oatmeal squares remind us always of Mom

Nice drive back from Tulua
