Sunday September 29, 2013
On Friday I bought a new, folding wooden shelf to hold my 350 DVD’s for a whole $75.   There is enough room to put in double rows on each shelf, so it could conceivably hold around 1,000.
Today I walked to Coopera and Coral for groceries.  I found the usual Sunday volleyball games in progress.
Then I happened upon some sanctioned grafitti art being painted on the wall on the corner.  This should look pretty interesting when it is completed.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

It was a bit of a surprise to see this happening at the corner

I can't wait to see the finished product

350 DVD's on this new collapsible shelf unit, so far

Ecuadorian volleyball, 3 players per side

The net is very high so spiking is almost impossible

The fellows in the back get a lot of exercise

They don't use a lot of strategy to make the opposition run and bend

My gosh!   Where has this month gone already??   I just had to get out of the house today and wander around downtown again.  The Pan Flute fellas were playing in the Civic Plaza, entertaining the indigenous folks at the nearby Mercado.
I also had the best personal meat-lovers’ pizza for $2.80 at the Pizza House on San Blas Square.  What a treat!
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Lots of pigeons at Civic Plaza waiting for someone to feed them

Our beautiful City Hall

This is the ceiling of the lower entryway

Definitely a favourite to photograph

Indigenous fan of pan flute music

Indigenous trying to sell stuff on the steps of the Mercado

The day is long....

A group watching the Pan Flute player

This guy has the most incredibly pure sound

Look at the meat chunks on this $2.80 pizza

Afternoon mass at San Alfonso

One of the spires of San Alfonso

It must be a boring sermon...

While in El Centro and on the south side, I grabbed a couple of different angle shots.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

CIDAP Museum has displays of textile art from Chile and Guatemala

Do you think this one is from Guatemala?

Love the kinky entrance to the Museum

Looking back up the Escalinata

A low view of Parque Calderon and Immaculate Conception

Same shot, angled more left

The new Planetarium is taking shape

I went to El Valle to check on the house Greg wants to buy, only to find it has not changed in 6 months.    In the process, I found a spot I love, in fact just above the house I fell in love with last year..., but with a 360 view..... tempting....
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

I have the hots for this mountaintop property

Heckuva view east

Monster view to the west too

I look down on the house I wanted to buy

A look back at both properties

Chicken with chicks

Cow with rooster

Lovely El valle church

No further construction on Greg's house

This house is beautifully situated

It still needs a lot of TLC

Only the basic structure is done

It has a heckuva view too

A look at it from the back road

A look from the El Valle road

It is unusual to see machinery at work here

I went to El Centro on a gorgeous afternoon and attended yet another Coopera meeting.  There is a mixture of day and night shots.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

A glorious afternoon in El Centro

Mom & daughter doing jumps

Projecting images across the street

This is the kind of day you feel glad to be alive

The afternoon sun and blue sky are mesmerizing

Nigh-time lighting on Immaculate conception is poor

Coloured lights on the statue

It doesn't seem too bad at this angle

Hmmm, pink lighting....

Old Cathedral and Justice Building

Love the cupola on the Old Cathedral

It is really well lit at night

Artsy-fartsy shot

This is a lovely statue of Abdon Calderon

The overseers of parque Calderon

This is where the Coopera meeting was

Boy, would I love to own this place!

Old style wooden floors, not fake

These floors are the genuine article

Like usual, I am the first one here

Lovely medieval-style painting
