Sunday May 2, 2021
I had a short walk with the dogs in drizzle and came home when it intensified. I went back to bed for 1.5 hours then got up to watch MotoGP racing from Spain.
Of course, I was hoping for my 2 main guys, Fabio Quartararo and Marc Marquez to do well. Fabio had the pole position while Marc was back in 14th, still recovering from his accident last year.
Fabio lost the lead quicly to Ducati's Jack Miller and dropped to 4th. Later he battled back and regained the lead for much of the race. Then his tires were giving way and he appeared to lose power, letting Jack Miller take the lead for good and dropping to 13th by the end, out of the points. Marc, who is obviously still struggling with his injuries, meanwhile had to content himself with sneaking into 9th place and a few points.
I tried everything I could to try to watch the Formula 1 race from Portugal to no avail but followed the progress via a poor feed that gave few details, just the order. World Champion Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes continues to show who's boss out there,... and teammate Valtterri Bottas, who had the pole, came in third. As is becoming very apparent this year, the battle is really between Red Bull and Mercedes, with the RB team coming in 2nd and 4th, Verstappen and Perez respectively. My guy, Charles LeClerc of Ferrari came in 6th.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
