Yesterday, I started Ozarks on Netflix. Watched 3 episodes, and it is pretty good so far. I am getting to like Jason Batemen in his role. Laura Linney is always good.
Not one of my favourite chores, but I cut up my cabbages, one green, one red, for several evening meals. I have been doing this for about 15 years now and I still look forward to my daily salads.
I was picking up some poops when the pooper-scooper broke in the same place as the last one. So, I repaired it the same way too. Cristina had donated the old one to the Animal Park. Drilling holes in both sides (not just the broken side) and the center piece, I did a quick, solid repair with some wire. This kind of repair always makes me think of my amazing father and his ability to fix things. Having been born in 1902, living through the dirty 30's on a farm, and not having the hardware store access that we enjoy today, it is a testament to his ingenuity and savvy. In the late 70's I was visiting Dad & Mom in Radville and had just broken the handle on my camera bag. I showed it to Dad, he looked at it a bit, then smiled and brought me with him. Yup, he drilled 2 holes inline and threaded a strong wire through both and squeezed in both ends. A lifetime repair, stronger than the original. So that lesson of over 40 years ago was not lost on me and I gained a great respect for that wonderful man who is never far from our thoughts.
I refilled the sprayer with Dawn dish detergent again and went on an insect-killing rampage. Killer was being bothered by a lot of flies so I even sprayed him, then came out with the electronic bug zapper as well. He is definitely more comfortable because of it. I went after the microscopic ants that run up and down the door jamb of the back door. Occasionally we get them in other places but they are easy to eradicate.
Looking into the mango tree I did spot Tom Thumb but I haven't seen him at the feeders yet. That should just be a matter of time now.
I took a few photos, processed them and decided to experiment with watermarks here. I hate writing on photographs and honestly watermarks are of little use if they can be cropped off easily. My photos on RedBubble are being shown with a watermark dead center to try to fend off the unscrupulous who steal our work to sell on Amazon and such. How they get rid of the watermark is a mystery because Fine Art America also has its own corner watermark.
One surprise when processing happened when I accidentally took a shot into the mango tree while trying to focus on Tom Thumb. It really is a tiny pile of bird or bat dung, but, seriously, it looks like a Silverback gorilla holding a baby!! I cropped it severely so you could see if you agree with me or not.
Last night, Aram said that he would come for a movie tonight. he is not responding so I am not holding my breath.
The dogs were going crazy outside and Cristina rushed out. 2 chicks had squeezed under the wall and were now the targets for 10 dogs! We managed to shoo the dogs in the house and rescued the one chick stupid enough to stay in our yard. The other somehow had the sense to go back. We put the chick back through the hole and did our best to close up the gap. I may have to try to find some spray urethane and close this all up.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. Do you even notice the watermarks??
That was the day’s excitement.
