Tuesday September 29, 2020

It was odd to see lightning above both the Central and Coastal Cordilleras this morning but we got no rain despite washing Lizzie.

After chores, I had a nice nap then decided I am going to fashion a better doorway to keep the dogs from the front area, 3rd bedroom, living room and 'garage'.  Right now we keep moving a plastic cabinet filled with tools and it seems to be getting more difficult all the time for everyone.  Time for a change..

So we checked a wood shop near the vet here to support locally, but they had zero plywood at all, so we went in to HomeCenter.  We could not find the dimensions of plywood I needed without paying a lot for a whole sheet so next we checked their wooden door area.

We found a standard 90cm door for 82900 pesos ($21.32 USD) that can work, bought a standard handle and I think we are good to go.  We thought of buying paint but will wait on that to see how hard the dogs scratch that obstacle up when someone is at the door first.  It was too big to put in Lizzie so 35,000 pesos ($9 USD) gets it delivered here Friday.  Then I will take photos, after installation.  I alreay have felt pads to stick underneath to make it slide easier for us.

At the same time we finally purchased a little slide lock for the outside of the ensuite.  Since that is where Cristina keeps the kittens away from the dogs, we needed a better way to keep them safe.  I broke my drill bit trying to make the pilot holes and had to use a lot of elbow grease to get the 6 screws into the metal so that I was thoroughly exhausted when I was done.  A good nap was then the order of the day, again.

So, sorry about the lack of photos.  I will make it up to you another day.

I did get a nice compliment from one of our Cuenca friends who posted a photo of herself, taken by me, on Facebook.  She thanked me via Messenger for being the only person who could take a decent picture of her.  Frankly, I think it was because she was always sweet on me and actually relaxed when the photo was taken.  You're welcome Barbie.

That was the day’s excitement.
