The ability to just take a day off to cogitate and rest is a real perk on a long trip and Lou and Yvette are most accommodating on that score.
Yvette is completely in tune with our comfort foods from our younger days at home and today was a smogasbord of culinary delights starting with good Canadian back bacon and eggs for breakfast!
I kept missing good shots of birds at the feeders here who seem to get spooked easily as we near the window with the camera. A cardinal only hung around for about 3 seconds,.... drat!
An afternoon nap was in the order for everyone before their second daughter, Shari, and hubby George, came visiting with dogs Nestor and Shiloh. Nestor took a few minutes to warm up to me, but the little fireball Shiloh was in my lap in seconds. There was my doggy fix for the day.
We got into playing my favourite card game, five-handed Rook, and soon everyone had the hang of it and we had some spirited games, onlyinterrupted by more outstanding food!
Roast beef, potatoes, vinegar salad, topped off with my fave lemon meringue pie! Yvette does know the way to my heart as I unashamedly had 3 pieces!
Then it was back to playing Rook again. My eyes light up when I see that we are 5 people and can play this competitive version, much more fun than playing partners with 4 people. If anyone wants my quick compilationof the rules, etc, let me know...
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
