Sunday November 8, 2020

I watched Sarajevo (start of WW1) and Skin Of The Wolf (Spanish drama) on Netflix last night.  The former was at least historical and interesting, showing how the assassination of the Grand Duke Ferdinand was contrived and blamed on the Serbians.  The latter was pretty boring with maybe 250 words of dialogue in the whole movie.  I guess it is time to start a new series.

This morning I brought desserts as usual to David's to watch MotoGP from Spain.  2 Suzukis took control and we had the 9th new winner in 12 races, such has been the unpredictable 2020 season without my main guy Marc Marquez.  Perrenial favourite The Doctor Rossi crashed as did 2 of my other guys putting them out of the points.  Binder and Dovisioso came in 7th and 8th so the day wasn't a total loss.  Joan Mir (a guy) had the race of his career and is now the man to beat for the overall championship.

In the afternoon we went to the Animal Park for a celebration of Marino's 86th Birthday.  Like last year, it was advertised and hoped that many people would come and donate food for the animals.  Apparently 3 people came in the morning and only us in the afternoon.  It was too nice a day and most people headed for the river or the country.  So sad to have such a poor turnout for such a worthy cause.  We brought a 25kg bag of the dog food that we buy for our own dogs and they love it.

It was a long day for poor Marino who was nodding off when we left.  Marino is a legend in this town, going from restaurant to restaurant to collect scraps for the 40-odd animals rescued to the Animal Park.  86-years-old and he carries these pails like a coolie, inevitably followed by at least 3 dogs.  He is an inspiration to everyone, and the only reason these poor animals can survive.  I keep saying that they need to post photos online, and at the entrance, so people know that there are so many lovely animals to adopt.  They are just craving attention so badly and most people won't adopt older dogs.

One of the dogs, a lovely blond girl, has a damaged back end and walks very crookedly but she is such a sweet thing with a winning smile and she is a fighter like our little NeNe.  It is so hard for me not to bring such dogs home, but 10 dogs in this place is sufficient.  We just have to support them there as best we can.  Thank you to our friends Frank and Jen for contributing without being asked.  Hugs to all.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

The rain in Spain fell mainly on the plain yesterday.

Today it was sunny in Valencia

Everybody gets away well

But 2 guys crash on the first lap

My guy Quartararo struggles to end 14th after this.

Crashes are part of the game

The 2 Suzukis stay in the top 3

Hard passing by Mir (36) and he takes the lead

The 2 Suzukis have the mastery on this day

My other fave Alex Marquez crashes

Nobody is going to catch Mir

Teammate Rins makes it interesting

Mir has a nice championship lead

9th different winner in 12 races. 2020 has been crazy!

Marino Diaz with our donation

They need a lot more donations like this

View from the front of the Animal Park

The animals crave attention

Firefighters built this lovely shelter

Other donated doghouses.  I may fix the brown one..

Lots of animals to adopt here

Not all are cute puppies

But they are all vulnerable

Play-fighting is common

Kittens have to cope with dogs

They are usually kept in their own shelter, safe.

Views inside the park

The damaged beauty Patecumbia is a fighter!

Wow!  The cobwebs have been removed.

Another view inside the park area.

and another...

A flowering tree.

Dogs chasing and getting exercise.

My shot of the day.

I just may enter my first contest with this one.

Poor Marino.  It's a long day for an 86 year-old.

Another view from the front of the park.  See the cross?
