Friday November 13, 2020
So is a Friday the 13th in 2020 going to give anybody luck?? Certainly not me.
After over 2 months we finally got the home service call from Movistar. The guy came in, did a 10-second test on the line and asked us if it was working well. I said it was not bad today but there is always the chance of intermittent loss of Internet. I also asked him to give me cable longer than 1 meter to reach from the baseboard connection to the modem. I wanted about 8-10 meters so I would have options of where to place the computer(s). The jerk says that we have to call the service number in Bogota for that! Then I asked him to change the cable service from one outlet to another in the living room. Again, he said it is not his responsibility and just walked away. I waited over 2 months for this BS?????? Then I went on the Internet and our signal was 20% of normal. I HATE MOVISTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have zero concept of customer service and I again let them know that I was NOT pleased. Grrrrrrrrr!
I trimmed some trees in the back yard and watered some others.
We got a call from Aunt Nativa that she had managed to get a bunch of diapers from Emssenaar after 3 months of trying and many trips with us. We dropped everything and went to pick her up with her load. They must have given her extra this time to make up for the long wait.
On the way back, the traffic in front of us was stopped for a good 20 minutes for a bad truck accident. I only saw one vehicle, a big truck, facing the wrong way, with the front end smashed in. There is a steep road off to the right there and it is possible that he had brake problems and came across the road and hit the big ditch in the median. It appeared that the stoppage was for the tow truck and ambulance to do their jobs.
Nativa's grandson, Victor Hugo, a paraplegic, had apparently been very sick with the flu and was having convulsions so he was in hospital here for 3 days. He did not sound very good today but was happy to smile for the camera. I like that kid, he is such a trooper.
I just did another Speedtest on my Internet and it is sadly not any better. Movistar sucks!
Tom Thumb and friends were really teasing me in the back yard too, and any shots I took were way out of focus because they are so small and so fast. Sorry.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.

Opening multi-coloured rose. Opened new hibiscus Opening Peach rose. Drivers frustrated with the wait. Finally we get to move. Finally we see a tow truck and ambulance. Not sure what this truck hit. I think he hit the ditch median between the highways. Diapers to last a while... Victor Hugo is a great kid, though sick. Kiskadee and dove. Killer basking in the shade. Birds feeding.
