After a nice morning nap, with the TENS machine working its magic, we decided to go for a drive. I even suggested going to Rio Frio where I normally hate driving because of the weekend traffic. However, half the population is to stay home, and it was an exceedingly cloudy day, but still 85F as we made our way through Tulua with very light traffic.
There was really not much to photograph on such a day so we just went to visit friends Rene (from Switzerland) and Omaira (former Colombiana beauty queen). They have a nice house, with swimming pool and many plants, even banana trees (indistinguishable from plantain trees). We had met them via David and Wolf and the German crew. This was at least our third or fourth visit to their place and they have yet to visit us, so we made plans to go on a drive together to Filandia and Salento, very picturesque towns in the coffee-growing area very soon.
We had a very pleasant visit, talking about Canada, Europe, travel and places to see. Rene is a very typical Swiss man, very precise, with little tolerance for defective products. He has an amazing miniature (not a toy) railroad set with all parts and tools from Switzerland and the transformer from Germany. He is in the process of making a multi-level train display and was just putting together his control panel of switches and lights, all meticulously planned. The saying is "Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the
mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the
Swiss."
Omaira and Cristina get along so very well too. Omaira showed us a picture of herself at age 28 and, at first glance, I thought that I was looking at Elizabeth Taylor! She saw our business card, so now I have to make some for them.
They are both keen on visiting Canada and I showed them a few videos of my beautiful country. We also had a nice afternoon rain which made us think of Killer being in the back yard, but when we got home, the rain had spared him and Andalucia.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
