Last night, Aram asked if I could help him take their Husky puppy, Luka, into Yulua this morning for ultrasound, because he was throwing up again.  They had wasted a ton of money on a vet without any tests so it was good that they were finally listening to reason and checking him out.  We went to a new vet clinic that seemed to be clean and had a lot of staff.  The vet certificate on the wall was for a gal with the surname Escobar so that might explain the opulence of the place.  It turns out that the poor pup has a severely swollen and inflamed colon.  At least they know now what to treat properly.  They were to then consult with the Huellas vet later today.

I paid most of the utilities and internet bills and it seemed exceedingly high, but only about $92 USD and am still awaiting the high gas bill to pay for the regulator repairs.  I saw a small lineup at City Hall to pay the house taxes but I was in no mood for that today.  Maybe tomorrow or Thursday.

Then a knock at the door had an appliance repairman wanting to check our appliances.  I had a good feeling about him so I let him look,  He said the fridge looked excellent but that we should remove all magnets from the outside and get voltage regulators for all appliances.

I showed him the large microwave that went 'Poof' and quit working, the one we had replaced a ton of fuses in, but it is large and powerful, much better than the small one we replaced it with.  We plugged it in and, lo and behold, it has decided to work again..  He said the inside contacts need to be cleaned with electronics cleaner (and install a voltage regulator).  He will be back Saturday to work on it.  We will keep the tiny microwave as a backup.

Then he went to work on the washing machine which had just supposedly been fixed by the guy Cristina found last month.  That was enbarrassing...  He took off the front control panel which had been ignored by the previous guy and we jumped back as a family of cockroaches scurried through their crap around the wiring.  Gross!  It is a good thing they don't find their way into the house.  He said to get mothballs and they will stay away.  Then he took the drum apart to show that the spindle that twists, and carries all the weight was broken in several places and would have failed shortly.  So all necessary repairs were made, proper cleaning done, and the bill was 303,000 pesos or under $87 USD for over 2 hours work, including parts.

Money is just flying out the door and the only consolation is that the bills for everything would by many times worse in North America.  We really need to rein in the spending for a bit.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
