OK, there are many photos and we went a lot of places so I will likely split today's Blog into 2 episodes.
Our vet, JohnFaber Rojas, decided last night to bring his boy, Martin, 11-years-old and sharp, and.. he speaks English well! John picked up Igor right on time and was at my place by 6:05am, which was a shock.
John had a planned route in mind but that all changed when we got in a standstill traffic jam that was at least 5 miles long between Corozal and LaTebaida, where we made a long detour left and enjoyed different scenery on winding country pavement as we entered coffee country. We had made a minor stop in Corozal and had then has a longer, pretty stop in Montenegro. All towns have a central European-style square bordered by the church and civic buildings, etc. Almost all have a statue or bust of the Liberator Simon Bolivar. We had a brunch there and schooled Martin a little on photography. He was enjoying it so much and, when leaving we saw a poster above where we parked showing a boy photographer, so you can see below what we did.
Next was Quimbaya (not kumbaya, whatever that is..) with another nice square and statue of Bolivar, ringed by beautiful plants and flowers.
Outside of Quimbaya was El Paraiso, a tourist stop with many beautiful views and more flowers. An old coffee grinder with fresh coffee beans was on display too.
We stopped for non-alcoholic drinks and a pee break in Filandia (often mis-named Finlandia) but the connection is there. The church almost appears to have an Orthodox influence and the town is all brightly painted, much to Igor's delight. Igor loves brightly painted buildings, doors, windows, etc.
More in the next instalment.... I am totally shocked that this batch uploaded in order on the second try!
On the last photo, I realized that I should have started calling either myself , or Igor, by the name Abraham... You might figure out why, if you are a music lover.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
