It is the end of August already!  Where does the time go?
Yesterday I finished work on a composite photofor John Faber Rojas, the vet.  He had admitted that wolves fascinated him so my gift to him is below.
On RedBubble I also got an invitation from the Canadian Artists group to visit her in Grimsby since that is a stone's throw from my sister's place in Vineland, if I ever get back to Ontario.  That was unexpected.
Cristina had a political meeting again and I had an invitation to try a South African drink with David and Irma so I went and enjoyed some brandy and ginger ale, good snacks and some good videos.  One was a video on a Canadian ace in the RAF in Malta named George Beurling.  I had to admit that I had never heard of him before.

This morning I woke again around 3am with a nuisance right hip pain again, not as severe as last time so I skipped the Tylenol and just used the TENS machine and I was OK again within a couple of hours.
Cristina took the bus into Tulua to help clean Adiela's house.  Adiela had knee surgery yesterday so it will be a while before she  is back to normal.
We had been asked to go on a trip to the Buga area to first see a house that Aram and Liliana were considering to rent.  I picked them up at 11am then we went in to pick up Cristina and we headed out.  Extreme confusion with the directions led us out of the way about 15 miles, and back.  The house was nice, in Yotoco, but in a developing area right next to a chicken hatchery.  The smell was enough to gag a nag.
Then we tried to find a supposedly pristine natural river and waterfall at a place called Mediacanoa, and again, the directions left a lot to be desired so we did a lot of driving for nothing.  When we did get to the right area, the roads were horrible.  Then the path into the river area was soaked by a spring so we just turned around.
It was suggested that we go to Lago Calima because we were so close, so we did go there.  At one point the 4-lane road was blocked and backed up because the road had slid away on the opposite side, and they even had one of our lanes blocked, so it was essentially one-way traffic for about a mile on this major road to the coast.  Our two lanes were merging and, when we got the signal to go, the semi beside us just drove into the side of the car ahead of us.  The driver was either blind or drunk to do anything so stupid.  We managed to squeeze by and continue our journey to a restaurant further up.  I had the most delicious chicharon (pork) ever...
It was super cloudy, windy and 20C, so it felt cool.  There was moisture in the air too and we actually got a tiny sprinkle as we continued our way around the lake.  There were windsurfers enjoying the weather and a few powerboats were testing the waves.
We came home to a call to attend a political rally down the street.  They gave us plain blue t-shirts to wear.  When we got there people were being entertained by a pretty darn good male singer.  Then this raft of candidates for everything from Governor, to Mayor, to Alderman, and probably more, started with pep speeches.  After 2 hours we lit out.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

My gift to John

House for rent in Yotoco

This chicken hatchery is literally next door.

Undeveloped terrain or second floor, but mountain view

Pretty simple, and unfinished

This resort at Mediacanoa was nice

This was our way into the pristine area

Looking down onto a blustery Lago Calima

Lots of cloud blowing through

Aram, Liliana and Yireh

The lake is about 30 kms long

The dam is in the center

Aram likes his photo taken, unlike me

Clearing up a tad

A waterfall near the dam

Yireh and Aram

And again

Blew this shot....

Windsurfers in action

The wind is pretty strong

They need strength to hang on

It looks like fun

They can move pretty fast

It is like being pulled by a speedboat

Mountain view on the way back (taken by Aram)

A liitle to the right (taken by Aram)

Political street rally

This singer was really good!

Big hand-picked crowd

Our cheering section

A candidate

Even the kids wore blue

Preaching to the choir....
