Friday August 26, 2022

The sky was very dark as we walked as usual this morning.  The dog around the corner with the third floor view of us for both ends of the next block is almost guaranteed to bark until we are out of sight.  I don't know how theneighbours put up with it...  Most others only bark when you are near their door, but not that crazy mutt.

I had to catch up on yesterday's chores, cut the cabbage Cristina got me last night, make coffee, and make lunch before heading out.

First stop was at D-Uno to get supplies of milk and pet food for kittens, most of this going to Zoonosis with Cristina today.

We did make another stop to check on Roger, the other expat and possible relative in town who has been incommunicado for almost the whole month.  He was to move out of the place shared with his wife and family, which he mostly paid for of course, around the 18th and I had messaged him on FaceBook, WhatsApp, and tried phoning to offer my help.  Our common friend, Aram, now in Kentucky, also had not heard from him.  He was leaving the marriage because his wife was shacking up with one of Christian's friends....

Surprise, surprise!  He was still occupying the second floor of that house and explained that his computer had crashed and that he had been pickpocketed of his second new phone in as many months, right in our main grocery store, Andaluz!  So he had no contact with anyone without visiting...  And he explained that his wife had moved out, leaving the mother on the main floor, which meant he had no reason to move and pay rent elsewhere...   Anyway, it was a great relief to see that he was OK.

I had posted my daily photo to FaceBook, and today it was of our darling Princesa.  One of my dear cousins asked for more photos and I complied.  Then she asked if she could adopt Princesa...!  That little girl has been with us for 6 years now, since June 2016, and is full family and our fiercest protector...  Besides,... who would pull me around on the morning walks if we let her go..??  That just would not do....

Late afternoon and we have no water.

I just finished poop and garbage patrol and noticed the darkening sky and sudden gusts of wind.  We only get breezes here, never wind, unless it is a precursor to a storm...  So, yes, it is now raining heavily, but did not last that long.

At 6pm the water was back, but the electrity quit.and stayed off for FOUR HOURS.  I managed to start a book by flashlight and Cristina came home just before 10pm with German & Ana, who didn't stay.  They said the electricity was on in the blocks below us...  It must have been a faulty transformer in our area.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
