There was no walk this morning because I was lazy.  I admit it.  We had planned to go into Tulua in the morning but then it dawned on me that we have to do that tomorrow anyway,.. so why waste a trip..??

So I contacted Risharah, the  CIBC supervisor, via secure email and got confirmation that my new Fongo number is registered as my number with online banking with advice on what to do next...

I was giddy when it worked with Fongo to get the verification BS number and I was actually able to do a money transfer...  Then she suggested that I download the CIBC Mobile App which I have been avoiding all this time, but it is protected by passwords and fingerprint, so I gave in.  Then I tried to set up "push notifications" (more secure apparently) and ran into a problem getting it to accept my Samsung.  So, another call to online banking AGAIN..... and they somehow managed to get it registered....  So now I can expect messages from every angle to drive me crazy.

I spent the day working on photos and spent over 2 hours on one alone... but I think the result is worth it....  I didn't take any other photos today.

Orig. from West Edmonton Mall

I think the time was worth it.

We just had a flash deluge rainfall that already started forming a new lake.  I am hoping it will be all dissipated by morning.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Tuesday August 30, 2022

The sky was dark again and we took a little different route for more exercise and avoid other dogs.

They were supposed to deliver the new posts I bought yesterday at 10am, and Carlos said that he would be here....  They came at 11:30am and Carlos then said that he would come at 2pm....

The posts were freshly oiled and OMG, those chanul posts are heavy!  The delivery guy brought them into the living room one-by-one.  My arms were really on fire today and I couldn't even lift one!  Carlos moved them one-by-one as well, on his shoulder, to the backyard...  I ached just watching him....

Cristina had made my favourite lunch without any prompting and we had then snuck out to bring stuff to Adiela's, pick up stuff to bring back, and hurriedly buy meat and veggies at Exito at LA14.  The 4 co-pilots were angels the whole trip.  I also tried my CIBC Debit card for the groceries and then I withdrew some money at a bank machine just to be sure I would not be stranded with no cash access.  I breathed a big sigh of relief when they both worked.

After Carlos left I tackled the CIBC problem again.  The exemption request was refused, so that is a nail in CIBC's coffin.  I was not a happy camper at that dismal news.  The Supervisor again suggested getting a "free" Voip number through Fongo.  Free meant $30 or more and they can't even promise that I will be able to receive the verification codes from CIBC...!!!!  Testing the number and messages have worked so far, so we have to give it a try.  I have sent the number to the supervisor to change my number in the system so I can access Online Banking again.  Crossing my fingers......

For those who may want to reach me without phoning internationally, the number is  587-887-0488 (Calgary number).

Somehow the views of this Blog have more than quadrupled in the past 2 weeks...  I think the numbers are being padded just to make it look good....

Cristina just zipped out on Chappy to put fresh flowers on Christian's grave.  I thought that I heard her come back and opened the garage door and that little rotter Negrita escaped again.  We do this routine every once in a while.  She gets to check out both ends of the block and she streaks by us five times before allowing us to grab her.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Monday August 29, 2022

The sky had a few stars above our heads this morning for our walk, then we napped again for a while.

I refused to leave the house in the morning between 8 and noon EDT because I was promised a callback by the supervisor at CIBC.  It had been 3 days since we spoke.

I tried troubleshooting my problems with FaceBook to see if Firefox was maybe the problem.  I did a few changes, upgraded Friefox and things seem to be much better.  I had to disable a couple of add-ons that weren't much use to me anyway...

Then I got out my trusty jigsaw and managed to cut the 10 plastic roof panels all at once in half.  It was slow going because I was afraid of breakage and splitting but it worked fine.  Then I got to put up one panel, just as a visual aid of what else we might need..

There was no call from CIBC so I called again after lunch and got another supervisor to waste another 55 minutes with me.  He managed to contact the supervisor Rishara (all these East Indians are saying they are in Regina,....yeah, I bet) who supposedly did have an answer for me and she would call me in 2 minutes.  I called again after 2 hours and she was in a meeting (they work from home apparently??..).  It is now past 6pm here and still no call.............  I am NOT a happy camper.

Carlos came by at 3pm and we reviewed a couple of things and I showed him my visual aid so he determined that we will need some light metal bracing...  First, we went to get the 4"x4" support posts which they will deliver in the morning at 10am and Carlos says he will be here to receive them....  The 12 posts cost me $151 USD.

Then we went to see a rental place to check out their antiquated versions of teleposts to raise the rafters back to the proper height.    I personally don't think that the darn things have enough movement to get the height we need.  I can see us using four of these teleposts for each 3-rafter section.  Too confusing to explain....

The young lady with the baby from yesterday did contact me to get copies of the pictures.  So I sent small versions like on here initially because I figure these are just going to be on her phone anyway.  This afternoon I decided to play with the photo further and sent her a large version suitable for printing.  I hope she likes it.  Oh, and her last name is Jimenez...

I hope you enjoy the pictures.   That was the day’s excitement.
