Last night we finally decided again to try the new "Hamburgo" place and we were not disappointed. While my burger initially looked small, it had a lot of meat, good bacon, fried onions, tomato and cheese. Totally delicious! I had a side of fries and a drink to share while Cristina had a loaded hot dog. Total bill was 30,500 pesos or just under $8 USD. We will be back here too!
The dancing last night was mostly the folkloric stuff that we don't care for, except for the spirited western-style dancing of Honduras (who I may have said were Mexicans in the last post..???) which was the most fun. It could hardly have been a competition when the judge's table beside us was empty. We had positioned ourselves next to the judges table walkway so we had a direct line of sight for the satge. But somebody parked a crippled old man in front of us so we had that to contend with as well as the smoke BS and the horrible lighting. After 2.5 hours our butts were sore enough, and we were so bored that we left early again. Not sure if there is competition tonight. I need a rest.
This morning David was in such poor shape that he didn't feel strong enough to host us for the Formula 1 race at 7am, but he requested that I bring him one of the omelette breakfasts from Parche Tranqui at 9am and I agreed. I was also bringing him cookies from our bakery that he loves. So, at 8:30 I pulled in front of Parche only to find the darn place closed! So I went to another restaurant a block away to ask if they do omelettes or the like but they would only do scrambled eggs with rice. Yuk. So, I beetled in to Tulua and went to Berthold and Zenaida's and got 2 orders of their German curried sausage, always a hit with me and David, who enjoyed it very much.
David is in tough shape, the worst he's ever been, he says, and is realistic that his survival chances can now probably be measured in weeks, not months... Sad to see and hear this. I donated to him a pair of magnetic bracelets to maybe help with his energy. He was most appreciative of that. He recommended another comedy series called "Ted Lasso" which I have now downloaded the first season.
When I got home Cristina wanted to make a quick run to the cemetery where she placed some nice orange flowers on Christian's grave. Then she was heading out to meet former Colombina co-workers for lunch.
After the walk this morning, I had just gone back to bed, so I needed to get caught up on my chores this afternoon. RedBubble wouldn't even stay up for 10 seconds, dropping on me 4 times before I decided not to bother doing any photo uploads today. That was a good decision.
I am already stressing out that we have to travel to Pereira tomorrow for a travel permit on our own, Miguel can't join us....
I hope you enjoy the pictures. I am only providing a sampling again....
That was the day’s excitement.
