So, I am picking up where we left off, leaving Palmira and heading to the cool town of Santa Elena, which was sunny and interesting. They have a statue in the square for Efrain & Maria, which corresponds to some local love story, something like Romeo and Juliet. A nearby wine store had many great paintings on their walls and their craft wines were very good, mostly fruit sweet. I bought one and John bought several. Somehow on these trips he buys a lot of stuff, including a bunch of religious statues this time at our next stop in Ginebra.
Ginebra was another sunny fun town with lots of folks out exploring and lots of craft sales on the streets.
We got many neat photos on our travels including a stop necessitated by a 5-trailer sugar cane hauler. Thos things are exceptionally long and slow. It is no fun to have to follow them.
Next was Buga with many people in the street, especially in front of their big cathedral which is surrounded by umpteen stores selling religious goods. Did you know that you could buy Christ for $2.75 USD??? So much for the 2nd Commandment which I have never understood with all the idolatry for sale.
We came upon a dance group practicing near one church too. John must have taken 100 pictures there alone, lol.
On this trip we have seen many churches and new birds. I have purposely reduced the amount of photos I am posting because there are just too many.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. Sorry that Blogger decided to mes up my order once again. Grrrrrrrrrrr That was the day’s excitement.
