The dogs were active early to go walking and one dog has a bark very similar to Killer, so that really throws me when I automatically react to go help him.... We got away at 4:15am and I could only fathom the brightest stars, but most likely satellites this close to the equator... I watched 2 horses head west towards the underpass of the highway. I sure hope they never find their way up there.

I took Cristina in real early to help Adiela with all matter of adoption needs for cats and dogs, also likely entailing a scooter ride to Roldanillo. Luckily it has not rained at all today,... yet...

So most of our closest friends are involved in helping stray animals and we do our best to pitch in. Adiela, Claudia and Daniel do hours and hours of thankless work to keep these animals housed and fed. Trying to get older animals adopted is almost impossible, sadly... but they still need help and they are so fortunate to have these kind souls looking out for them.

Jeepers, I took a 30-second movie of some of the birds feeding in the yard but it exceeds the file size to post here. It is not worth the time and effort to post it to YouTube first.

I am still avoiding to paint the doors....

Rio continues to amaze me in how fast she is fitting in. I swear that she is the reincarnation of Fat Nina! She even eats like her, voraciously,... so we'll have to limit that... It was a good decision to keep her.

The rain began about 3:30am and didn't let up until some time after 7am. Circling thunderstorms kept the action vivid and most of the dogs took refuge with us. Needless to say, the lake formed really quickly because of the ground saturation. Lakefront lots again for sale....

The other gringo in town, Roger Gagnon, contacted me about someone with 4 dogs who couldn't keep a fifth, a 4-month old puppy, not spayed. Why do people assume that because we have many dogs, 12 at the moment, that we are open to accept any stray?? We got pictures and information to present to Adiela to try to find an adopter.

One of my 2 packages from Amazon arrived today, 8 days earlier than estimated. The other will probably arrive tomorrow. I had found a deal on sheets for the King and Full beds.

I took Cristina into Adiela's to work with adopters and returned with my 3 co-pilots. I thank my lucky stars that we have such good dogs and that Rio is fitting right in. Now, with all the sicknesses going around, we just want to keep them all healthy and I don't want any more animals for a long while. I would agree to keeping Chiquitita if pushed, but no more.

People keep coming to the door to talk to Cristina when she isn't here and then she ignores her phone... That is very frustrating.

Killer had me up at 3:45am because he had pooped and was having mucus in the nose problens, and wanted water. I addressed all those things then went on an early walk with the 3 stalwarts. There were no stars and it was again very quiet. Then we went back to bed and slept in.

When we got up at 8:30am, Killer had expired... This big damaged dog lived with us for about 3 years and was part of the daily ritual around here and his will to live such a boring life always amazed us all. This gentle giant had such soft eyes that will haunt me in my dreams for a long time. We took him later to be buried in the Animal Park because we have no good area in our back yard for such a big grave. RIP to our brave survivor Killer.

This area won't be the same ever again.

I tried to revive an old favourite transistor radio without success. Then my battery tester decided to quit working... Grrr

We went to Huellas to get medicines and made arrangements to finally get the majority of our dogs vaccinated this afternoon by Jose. Chiquitita is too young, Nala is too old, and Rio is already vaccinated. Claudia brought a young dog from the park to get vaccinated as well. We all breathe a little easier now that that is accomplished. In 15 days they can get the rabies shot.
