Sunday September 15, 2019
It was only a 4-dog walk this AM as Rocas stayed behind. However she was willing to go out with me upon my return as I grabbed the Nikon to try to catch a promising sunrise. She is learning to be as good as Turi on the leash, right at my side. I had no problems with her at all as I went up along the park to catch the church in the very brief colorful sunrise. It barely lasted a minute so I was lucky to be there.
There were strange noises coming from a block away from home and I thought the street cleaners were being unusually careless. However it was 2 men removing a front window of a home with power tools and hammer, making a horrible racket on a Sunday morning at 5:30am, waking all their neighbours. Latin Americans just don't care about disturbing anyone else, they are so self-centered. Grrrrrrr
Then, surprises of surprises, Cristina got up and came with me to Tulua to join David, Irma and Wolf to watch the Italian MotoGP race. She had an ulterior motive though,.. more on that later. My boy, Marc Marquez, was starting in 5th place today, very unusual, at a site just 20 kms from the hometown of fan favourite "The Doctor" Valentino Rossi. It didn't take very long for Marquez to work his way to 2nd, where he was content to draft behind youngster Fabio Quatrararo until the last lap. Then it got interesting as Marquez passed, Quatrararo regained, and Marquez passed again. Quatrarao was about to regain again, speeding up behind on the last turn but miscalculated, almost hit Marquez, and had to back off. The race had been mostly uneventful until then, with only a couple of crashes. One seemed more serious as a rider got bucked over his handlebars for a serious fall.
Cristina had wanted to go to a Feria (market) at the Coliseo in Tulua and it opened at 9am because she had a ballot to win the grand prize of a motorcycle. This wasn't for me of course, she just wanted to win, sell the bike to help the animals....
We were in the tiny lineup until about 9:15 when this fellow at the gate asks stupidly if we wanted to enter... Duh.... It was 5,000 pesos each to get in. This guy was one of the organizers and it was very clear on the brochures that this event was to start at 9am. Even Cristina was disgusted that only 3 food kiosks were open to start with, and we sat around and waited, and waited. This feria was about Auto-Sound and accessories. Ever so slowly, ridiculous vehicles came in with sound systems with multiple speakers crammed in their backsides. I laughed as this old, crinkled, repainted rice burner came in,.. worth about $200 with $10,000 of sound system crammed in. It was too ridiculous to even waste a photo on. Sorry, but I am not a fan of these units that blare out music so loud with the bass so distorted that your molars rattle.
Anyway, we contented ourselves with photos, sausages without mustard, and beer until noon before deciding that it was not worth waiting all darn day for the drawing (apparently you had to be present to win). We saw three choppers go right over our heads and had a Sundog rainbow around the sun. We certainly didn't have to battle the crowds to leave since there were only maybe 30 paying customers by noon, so this event was obviously going to be a bust.... When we left, there was still only one retailer set up, selling large LG electronics....!!
We came home to our usual appreciative audience.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
