Lalipped out to a nearby hamburger place and had them make me a nice burger, simple, like home, for $3.50 and it was good eating.  I'll have to try that again.

Happy Hallowe'en everyone.
This morning I got up pretty much as I do every morning, with the sun by 5:45.  I was so exhausted last night that I did finally sleep pretty soundly.  I walked the 3 girls, then the 2 boys (the other 3 are too unruly to walk), did most of my chores before heading to sign in at Driving School at 8am.  At 10am I returned to sign out and sign in again.
We took Cafe in to the vet for her second chemotherapy session.
We tried to find out where the new location is for Cristina's arepa (tasteless bread-like substance) maker has moved to.  The old location has a sign with a new address that makes no sense.  The good part of it is that we happened across a new lawn-cutter and he came to work until noon, when I went to sign out again.  He is supposed to return at 2:30.
Forget all that stuff yesterday about finding the old owners of Blanco.  They lied.  It turns out the owner is actually a young gal who works at out vet, and she had the matching leash to the dog's harness, so we picked her up and drove into Tulua to get Blanco.
We came back and went to pick up Cafe at 2pm but she apparently is having crying problems (???) so we had to go back at 5pm.  She looks good and is always happy for the car ride.
Cristina told me there was to be a kid's Hallowe'en celebration at the central park at 4pm so I went over.  They had a lot of chairs set up in from of a bandstand on the street, in the hot sun.  I took refuge under the trees in the park because nothing happened for an hour except some canned music and I was feeling a tad queasy so I came back home.  I did get a few shots of kids but not as many as I was hoping for.  Carlos' great-nephews were there with his niece Angela.
The lawn guy was back here finishing up and he was pretty quick.
I have yet to get any responses from my bank manager or from NetTalk.  The customer service seems to have evaporated.
Celebrations with lots of noisy motorbikes are going up and down the streets.  No trick or treating is done here.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

After a month of waiting, this morning I was getting ready to go to the Driving School finally as requested at 8am.  At 7:23am I get a message to show up at 9:50, which I did.  We did the phantom class thing with the photo of the hand and I came home to work, then returned at 11:45 to sign out of said phantom class.  I am to return tomorrow at 8am.  I hope it will be at 8am from now on so it doesn't ruin my whole day.  So it will be another 10 days of this 2-hour BS.
So I had some time to look a little harder at what I need to apply for a replacement passport and I decided to follow advice and report the theft first.  I will do that tomorrow with Miguel after my class.
I also got the information I need to fax to transfer my money from Canada, amended it to have ALL the information they need, per the information they already have on file, and printed the 2 documents to sign and fax, hopefully tomorrow as well.  The Colombian peso is still on a climb so I am hopeful to get this done quickly.
I also got back in touch with the NetTalk people because my Canadian phone is just NOT resetting and is useless,.. and,.. of course... I just renewed my subscription.  After several emails they agreed to replace it and asked for shipping details.  I am a happy camper,...... for about 15 minutes.......
They email me back that they only ship to Canada or the USA... groan...   I have just offered to pay any shipping charges but am not hopeful.
The way things are going lately I am almost scared to go with my wife about her tumor, and that is the truth.  It is like things are jinxed right now.
No pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Tuesday Oct 30, 2018
Yesterday, while walking to a grocery store we helped some people corral a loose dog.  Then the Mom came on her scooter with the dog and questioned us if we knew the owners.  Cristina had the lady send her a  couple of photos and we had Adiela post the lost dog on her pet site.  Then the Mom informed us that the "owners" had been located but the witch of a wife threw the dog back out into the street.  So we ended up with the dog, which we temporarily called Blanco, until it could get adopted.  Blanco just whined all night and we got no sleep at all.
This morning the plan was to get Blanco clipped and take new pictures and there were already a couple of bites for adoption.  However, as luck would have it, the previous owner recognized this as their dog that had been stolen a while back, so we skipped the clipping and Cristina and Adiela took Blanco in to them.  The dog was apparently very happy to be back with his true owners.  Reunion stories are always nice.
After I signed out at 10am from my 8am driving class they wanted me to sign in again and come back at noon to sign out but I had to decline because we had these plans to go into Tulua and could not possibly be back at noon.  Nowhere had they given me any indication that I was to have a second class and they seemed upset that I couldn't fill that slot..  We'll have to see what happens tomorrow and get a schedule in writing...
I still have not heard back from NetTalk whether they will send me the new Duo here or not if I pay any shipping charges....  I don't know why they are not getting back to me...   I feel so lost without it.
We have been trying to get the whipper-snipper guy to come and cut our lawn without success.  He is never home when we stop by, and hasn't called us or come by today to do the work.
I collected brother-in-law Miguel in Tulua and, after a last-minute electrocardiogram appointment for him, we went to find out where to file my report for the stolen passport, cedulas and birth certificate.  We finally got to a place that was more of a copy-center than a police station but, for a little over $1, they did the report online for us and gave us an original and 2 copies.  Now nothing will ever come of this because there is no money in it for the corrupt police here.
Next we tried to find a place to FAX my signed requests to CIBC in Okotoks to send me my money by wire transfer, as they insisted.  Colombia is a country of contradictions, which still uses carbon paper, typewriters and dot matrix printers, (much like Ecuador), but yet is quite internet savvy and everybody has a cel phone.  We tried internet cafes, copy centers, forwarders, banks, and more, and no luck...  Almost everybody tried to send us back to the place that took our police report, and they all offered to send the documents electronically, buy nobody had a working fax machine...  I checked out a couple of android fax apps but they all seemed to be scams.
So, when I came back home, I scanned the signed documents and sent them again to the Manager at the Okotoks branch in PDF form.  I still expect her to refuse to accept them that way but I did suggest that my only other option is to email the documents to a friend in Okotoks and have them print and fax them to the bank.....  Just silly, isn't it??
So, when I feel up to it I will tackle the forms to get my new passport, get new photos taken, get a guarantor and 2 references.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
