This morning we were up with the sun again to walk the dogs because we were leaving early to go with David and Irma on a tour around Lago Calima, about 1:20 from here.
Having major problems with internet, Wi-Fi, Canadian NetTalk phone, Canadian bank, and more.  Whether I can get this Blog uploaded will be anybody’s guess.  Why is everything crapping on me lately??
Anyway, it was a blustery morning that cleared up somewhat to allow us a pretty darn nice day.  David decided that he wanted to drive so we let him.  We shared the tolls and we looked after the lunch and beer breaks.
They are a nice couple to travel with, easy-going and amiable.
Lago Calima, it says is 13 kms long but I am sure we drove closer to 30 kms from end to end to the dam, then we went all the way around it, and enjoyed terrific views.  It says the elevation is 1,500 meters and that it is an artificial lake.  There are some very huge homes around this lake and many developments in the making.  We won't speculate where much of that money comes from.
What surprised us was the complete lack of activity on the lake!  A lovely Saturday and there were just a couple of sailboats and a few windsurfers.  If this lake were in Canada it would have been covered in boats and jet-skis.  While there were a lot of places renting all sorts of these, you would have thought we were there mid-week and not the weekend.  That certainly made things much more pleasant for us with the very little traffic about.
We had a decadent lunch near the dam and took our time going all the way around.  All in all it was a totally pleasant day.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.

Was having initial problems with the Lumix panorama mode so the sky is blown out.

We made this stop at the east end

The lake is long and skinny with lots of bays

Some beautiful views to be sure

Gorgeous colour to the water

Clouds blowing through the valley all day

Halfway up the lake?

The dam is at the west end

The dam in the distance

We have to go around this and then down the other side

Irma, David and Cristina

Again the same crowd

From a restaurant near the dam

From the west end

Cows and horses on the hill

Some big places around this lake
Lots of water feeding the lake

The top of the dam

The power station below

Looking across the front of the dam

Again

Map of the area

Buzzards after us old folks

View from a proposed development site
Windsurfers in this area

I like the palm trees...

The town of Darien, just past Berlin

Light and clouds

Again

Sky and clouds

A panorama for you
