Sunday I decided to return the invitation to Dave
and Irma to visit us because there are few guarantees how the week is going to
turn out, if I have to start my Driving School classes as promised or not. They could not come until 3pm so we made a
quick trip to the cemetery. It has been
raining a bit every day so we did not have to water anything and the plants and
flowers look good. It has been suggested
that we actually cut some of the plants so they will bush out and flower
more. I will have to remember to do
that. We were watched by 2 very large birds, probably Peregrine Falcons, and 2 very loud parrots went by quickly shouting out warnings.
Dave and Irma came about 3:30 and we gave them the
cooks’ tour and they begged off going downtown for ice cream, or even to eat. We had such lively discussions that I forgot
to take any photos again and I forgot to ask Dave if he would either be a
guarantor or be one of 2 references to support my passport application for my
stolen passport…. David had also
promised to take Irma to the La Herradura casino so they were not interested in
staying for supper, but we had a great visit.
Cristina also talked them into
going to the Lago Calima with us and Jessica on Saturday
This morning, while walking the dogs, I noticed that the Circus was beginning to tear down. When I returned later in the day they had almost completed that big chore. We will be back to relatively quiet evenings again, because they were pretty loud until almost 11pm. We have a fan/air-conditioner in the bedroom for white noise and we have learned to drown out extraneous sounds.
Carlos came fairly early and we tackled the
rabbit hutch again… The sun was
relentless and silly me was in a cap, muscle shirt, and shorts. I am a pretty shade of pink on my shoulders
and neck now. I also scratched myself in several places on the sharp metal so I am a hurting unit right now.
The rabbit hutch is large, has a metal frame, chicken
wire, partial sliding metal roof, partial concrete floor, and a locking sliding
door. Cristina is happy with it so far,
so that is the main thing. We have a
single metal panel in front as well to provide extra day shade for the
prospective bunny. The sliding roof is
to allow Cristina to stand up for cleaning, feeding, etc. It actually rained a little around 4pm, very
refreshing, and a nice test of the roof.
We were visited by Cristina’s niece’s partner,
Lorena, and she helped us get down a bunch of the ripe mangoes that were higher
up. My tree-climbing days are over I think.
Then Cris said that the vet here promised to have a
look at Café if we got there before 6pm.
After my quick shower we got there at 5:45 and he had already left…. Grrr.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
