Yesterday we thought that Mariposa had turned the corner and was back on the mend.
This morning she was in such bad shape, crying in pain, that we called vet John Faber Rojas who we trust the most and rushed her in at 7am and she received an hour of medications and treatment and was on IV when we left at 9am.  I had little hope of her survival.  Over the past few years I have seen many dogs and cats in the throes of death and have come to recognize it as such.  John thinks that she somehow injested poison but we have no idea how that is possible.  The other dogs have no apparent issues.
We went to LA14 for a birthday gift purchase and received the news that Mariposa had passed away.  We went and retrieved the body and she is already interred in our backyard with many other pets over the last 2 years.
Cristina came to me in Ecuador with her 2 pets Lupe and Mariposa.  Lupe died on the operating table in Ecuador and now Mariposa has joined her in heaven.  Losing any pet is never easy, they are part of our family and are so much our children.
I always called Mariposa "Mi Loca" because she was the crazy redhead who would incite the other dogs to play and run (and run away) and was always coming with a paw on our leg to garner some attention.  She became the matriarch of our clan and she will be so dearly missed.
Hard to type through the tears...
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
