Last night I got into my second instalment of Sherlock Holmes short stories online.  At least those are interesting...
In the past few days I had noticed the rabbits were getting extra attention from the dogs and I saw that Bugs and Bunny were busy digging escape holes in 3 corners.  I mentioned it to Cristina and she pooh-poohed me as usual.  This morning I saw that one of the rabbits was already underground and close to digging back to the surface on the outside, ... to the delight of the waiting dogs.  Out came the shovel and, with some good rocks I managed to fill the main hole.  I have time to go back to repair the other holes although I would prefer to let Carlos handle it because I have trouble bending for any stretch of time, never mind shoveling while bent over...
I finally wrote out and translated my questions for the house taxes and went and waited briefly to talk to the tax people this morning.  Thankfully I confirmed that what I paid was from Sept 1/18 to Dec 31/19, and I got a 20% discount for early payment.  They don't have Old-farts discounts like in Ecuador.  Anyway, that was a big load off my mind.
We went into downtown Tulua to get some more artificial flowers for Christian and to pick up a few staples, .. you know, beer and coffee...  The Aguila Roja (Red Eagle) coffee brand is supposed to be very good and it was $2.50 for 500 gms.  The beer was $4 for a 6-pack.
We had a forgettable $2 lunch down there and then went to check for peanut butter and other items at Dollar City.  We didn't find anything.
We blitzed over to HomeCenter because it is the only place that has waterproof mattress protectors (for dog accidents, not us..) and they actually had a king-size in stock.  I also tried to find some way to shed some extra light around the kitchen sink area and actually settled for an LED light bar like I had in Cuenca, rechargeable... of course.
On the way into Andalucia we stopped at the cemetery and installed the new flowers, a big blue bouquet at the front and 2 smaller blue ones at the back.  Hopefully this will cut down on the bi-weekly live flower purchases.  There were workmen working on, and re-painting, the arch to go to the chapel.  It sure needs it.
At home I noticed that one of my rings is missing as well as one of my brand new cologne bottles....  Hmmmm...  We will be watching our house guests much more closely from now on.
The LED light has a retractable u-handle so I tried to install this easily with an adhesive hook which lasted about a minute...  I was trying to avoid using Velcro as we had in Cuenca with only modest success.  So, next I looked in my toolboxes for cup hooks and found large brass ones that were too long and small ones that might work, drilling into the ceramic backsplash tile and concrete, and screwing it in.  The first one broke off at the first sign of pressure and luckily was protruding enough to enable its easy removal.  My second attempt met with success.   In true Colombian style, it isn't fancy, but it'll work.
I just got a note from Movistar asking if I want to enjoy movies and series on my phone because it is included in my plan.  I showed it to Cristina and we both shook our heads No...  We don't need that.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
