Yesterday, I slept over 12 hours to 11am, deciding there was no rush to watch the drifting snow outside and challenge the cold weather. The wind chill is much too high for this old guy...
The humidity in my place stays at 16% which is hard on the old nose, etc so I started boiling water all day, getting it up to over 40% at one point but it dropped right back once I stopped. I even caught the pot in time once it went dry... I would have hated to ruin that new pot...
I had another nap and then got to work on uploading some new artworks and was doing really well until Bob called to come up and watch the Oilers win again. Then I was up until 1:30am again...
Today I was chipper at 9am and even swept and mopped the place. One day I will get around to dusting....
I heard from the guys where I bought the cheap Ultimaxx 440-800mm lens on Amazon. They wanted a photo of what arrived in the package, so I was happy to accommodate them.
Basically I was killing time, waiting for the 28-300mm Nikon lens to arrive. Since a watched pot never boils, I went for a nap around 3:30pm and the knock at the door happened around 4pm...
I set up the new lens with a good UV filter and added a cap keeper to the lens cap. Then I grabbed the recycling stuff and some bird seed and went outside with the D850 and the new lens to test it out.
There were no birds around, but they were plowing the parking lot so I took a few shots. Then Bob called to come and have some heavy stew and watch some Montreal Canadiens hockey, so I went up and then took a few more test shots, including a couple after dusk.
The good news is that the new lens works quickly and has no problem with the low light without the flash. Unfortunately there is still "noise" in every shot but I have perfected the quick way to combat that. The new camera has more than double the megapixels of the D5600, shoots full-frame and the pictures are larger and slightly sharper overall. The D850 with the lens is very heavy but I feel so much more professional with this brute. I think I will call it Brutus...
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
