Upon opening one eye this morning the Boss informed me that we had to go get Estrella (Nina's sister) back form Omaira and Jhorman. Since the two boys go to school at different times, and she will be working again soon, the older boy, Jonathan, refuses to help with the dog. Since they do not have a yard, regular walks outside are required. Soooo, what I thought was a great fit didn't work.
We were also angered that we again had no water this morning. Then we found out that it was because our Tulua River was overflowing and it looks like debris blocked the intakes at the water plant, hence no water for at least 5 towns.
On our way to Tulua we made a brief stop at the cemetery to install some of the new flowers. It looks pretty darn good.
The traffic of stupid drivers, mostly cyclists who have a death wish, makes the drive to Omaira's one of my least favourite routes. Anyway, we did get there and picked up our poor unwanted Estrella. Soooo, we are back to 10 dogs in the house and not much peace. While I love Estrella to bits, and she has a ball with her sister Nina, we just have too many dogs. She hardly leaves my side, except to play with Nina.
Our big water tank on the roof was not giving us the water we needed because of dirty lines, or whatever, so I told Cristina to get Carlos over to look at it.
Then we popped in at Adiela's where she is making little adoption scarves for the rescued dogs (on Cristina's sewing machine). The purpose of our visit was to get decent photos of Estrella to post on her Huellitas Facebook page to get her adopted out to a good family. She also has a few puppies up for adoption and there was a stream of people to the door for them. Adiela does not just hand them to the first person that shows up but tries to screen applicants for the dogs' sakes.
The puppies are mostly black with on white front paw, so we named them the Michael jackson bunch. They are also the most docile puppies I have ever seen. Unmoving when held, almost sad....
Cristina apparently mentioned our water tank problem to Claudia and Sara because they volunteered Sara to walk the walls and try to fix the problem. Of course Sara went up there with no tools, buckets, cleaning supplies, brushes or anything..... So the comedy began as we tried to throw items to her. Our first order of business was to unclog the pipe entrance to let us have use of the water. But all the water was old and dirty so the decision was made to drain the tank. We opened all the lavanderia and bathroom taps, shower taps and flushed the toilets to speed this process. This is a big tank, apparently only 1/2 full, but it is still a ton of water down the drain.
Then Claudia felt the necessity to go up as well, and between the two of them they got it emptied and cleaned. Then we re-filled the tank and that took a surprisingly short time. Now I may have to re-align a few roof tiles that were jostled in the festivities.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
