It was quite a shock to discover that we are new grandparents of triplets. It appears that Bugs is actually a girl and that Bunny, who we have watched mounting her many times, is the man of the family. The proud parents have a large brown baby, medium white baby, and a runt, mostly white too.
While we were assured that both were males, I have just been checking on the myth that rabbits can change sexes. It is only a myth and even experienced breeders have trouble telling them apart. They fooled Cristina too.
It was pouring rain all morning so I had to wait until we came back from Tulua to see them and take pictures.
We went to feed and medicate Zeus before taking him to the vet. Then we picked up another lady from here (Cristina doesn't even know her name) and another pitbull to go with us. Her rescue dog had open wounds with maggots like Achilles before.
Zeus got a heavy regimen of vitamins and iron and peed often at the vet's. I am so glad he did not have any accidents in the car.
We brought him back to Nayibi, picking up his food and medications from our house, so we could do all that and not have to return again today. He was much more encouraging today, wanting to walk, and moving around a lot. I'm not too sure that he likes being in the car though. His howls almost take my ears off at times.
Apparently we have to take Zeus back to the vet again tomorrow.
Then finally we stopped for a tasty lunch on the central square, with soup and drinks for just over $4.
Then we took a chance to get my salad veggies locally and got lucky with nice selections of everything, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, granadillas and green apples. Cristina also got the rabbits a lot of carrots and also some grapes. This covers meals for me for about 8 days for just over $10. I would hate to see what these veggies would cost in Canada at this time...
So, granny and grandpa wish everyone well...
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
