Friday April 19, 2019
Good Friday everyone.
While I hesitate to call that green stuff in the back yard "lawn".... it does need to be cut and we left it a little long this time.
It rained again this morning but Leonel was here at 7:30am as promised (one of the few Colombians who know what someone's time means) and got busy with his machine during a break in the rain.  But the rain started again and I asked him several times if he wouldn't like to stop and have a beer for 20 minutes while this system passed.  He declined, kept working until he was done, had a beer, then hauled the 7 or 8 huge bags of heavy, wet grass to the curb for tomorrow's garbage pickup.  He is well paid for the time he works.
The freshly cut grass also seemed to bring back more birds, no doubt hunting for juicy worms on the saturated ground.
We washed and dried Estrella before delivering her to Omaira and Jhorman.  Hopefully they will be really vigilant and not lose the dog because someone leaves the apartment building door open.  Estrella seems really happy to have a family that will love her and play with her.
Then we stopped at Adiela & Miguel's for lunch.  I helped Miguel restring a spinning reel with Natalia, and Cristina brought her sewing machine for Adiela to repair some clothes.  With the constant rain, they are having the same problems as us with the multiple dogs taking other liberties with their business..
Good Friday is a big holiday here although I did not not see any celebrations here outide of a packed church as we went by.  Almost everything was closed but D-Uno (D1) was open so I picked up a few things to tide us over for $13, like bleach, dish soap, 5 bags of chips, 6 2-litre sodas, 2 smoked bacon, crackers, and 2 yougurt breakfasts.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
