Christian and i were surprised when the bus from Cuenca to Tulcan (at the border) was no longer an Express ride, and it only left at 5:30pm, which changed our plans for the day.

I was ailing all day and finally broke down and took a Gabapent because painkillers were not doing the job. I hate to admit it, but the Gabapent did help, almost immediately. I had just read 2 days ago on Facebook that they finally figured out that Gabapent blocks and prevents regeneration of synapses on the brain, which apparently isn't that critical for us older folks... but still, I wanted to get off the drugs if I could.. I guess that won't happen for a while..

We didn't need to be Asian to enjoy the Asian Night at Joes'. We had great and interesting seatmates and we got to enjoy the wonderful voice and great old tunes belted out by the inimitable Lynne Nadeau. The food was top-notch as usual and the dessert was heavenly.

There seemed to be a lot of odd French-Canadian connections at Joes tonight... Firstly, Lynne Nadeau's maiden name is LeBlanc, and she hailed from New Brunswick.. In attendance was also a Linda LeBlanc (married name) whose ex-hubby hailed from New Brrunswick...

Then there was an Alton Cyr in the crowd who was raised just across the border in the USA but whose family hailed from Sherbrooke, Quebec. One of my aunts was a Cyr, and he he also claimed to be related to some Michaud's, because Michel michaud was also at Joes' tonight. This is fun stuff to make these connections a continent away...

I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day’s excitement.
