This was an interesting day, no physiotherapy, and my reciepts had no problem at the SRI office, whooppee...
Then I wandered over to a Coopera meeting at lawyer Carlos Herredia's office and I enjoyed the amazing views from his 11th floor office until other people kept dribbling in.
So the gist of the meeting is that we will launch another lawsuit against this bunch of liars in Government before Dec 31 at no cost to us. So we will see how the crooked judges and lawyers can squeeze out of this one...
In June 2013 Coopera was liquidated because of supposed money-laundering, inaccurate financial statements that showed profits, while the Government said there were losses of $49,000,000, see Exhibit A. We started a lawsuit way back 4 years agoas a result of this alleging fraud against principals of Coopera and horrible bungling by the Liquidator, SEPS. We have been stonewalled since that time although a couple of the top Coopera officials went to jail.
To date, over 4 years later, they have paid out all the small depositors up to about $39,000 which was 99% of depositors, totalling $62,434.887. They still owe the larger depositors a total of $34,651,931 and claim paper assets of only $3,000,000.
Now, not long ago, the Chief State Prosecutor was being replaced and he was in a rush to clear his paperwork and reduce the problems for his successor, and the Government. So he has dismissed our lawsuit on the basis that there were no inaccuracies or fraud in the Coopera financial statement... Let that sink in for a moment.... This is absolutely incredible, because they are now in fact admitting that the closure of Coopera was unnecessary!!!!!!!!!
This is no doubt part of the reason that the Government has sealed court information, illegally, for 15 years to cover their dirty tracks.
Anybody who is still in love with the former President Correa will certainly get a talking to from me. I just hope this reaches far back enough that he goes to jail too. Yes, I have very strong feelings about crooks in Government positions...
So... If you are a Perjudicados de Coopera, please email Carlos about your desire to join the new lawsuit (at no charge to you).
On the lighter side, our newest occupant, nicknamed Nina (baby girl) is doing well and finally got out of solitary in the terrace.
Also Christian made it home safely yesterday to Colombia.
