Monday night we downed almost the whole bottle of rum by candlelight with Teresa and Billy as the power was out for 2 hours again.
Today, we caught a cab to the San Francisco market downtown and shopped for gifts to take back to friends and family in Canada. We were successful in finding almost all we wanted and were overloaded for the trip back.
At 5:30pm, we caught a ride with a new friend, Ruth, to the new La Yunta location on Primero de Mayo. The occasion was an annual Masquerade Ball hosted by Paco's Blues band, for which I was given free admission for Dawn and myself for agreeing to take photos of the evening.
This was another case of knowing almost everyone in the small crowd! Old friend Nancy Andrade was helping the place's owner. And old friend Roxy was the lead singer in the band. She and I took Spanish lessons together many years ago.
So, the situation here is almost as if I had never left, and it is wonderful. The temperatures here because of the La Nina phenomenon are either unusual heat or cool, but all is manageable and we are delighted to be here. Staying with the awesome Teresa and Billy is a Godsend.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
