Yes, I am happy to be in the tropics, albeit 8500 feet in the Andes. The weather temperature swings are something to contend with, but easily managed.
I took a better look around the yard this afternoon and took a few shots for you, and discovered that the local hummingbird here is the same breed as I had at the other end of town, the Sparkling Violetear! And this guy hardly seemed afraid of me at all, so he like my original Tom Thumb!
I taxied over to Batan Mall again and did some clothes shopping. I found a 3 for 1 sale at Marathon, which is usually a very expensive store, and got 3 hoodies, 3 pants and some Puma knock-off sandals.
Billy and his handyman Angelo worked hard to replace the faulty calefon (on-demand hot water heater) back here so I now have hot water. A shower sure felt good.
Then I decided to go out to find a cheap electric bike for here. Coral had one for over $500 USD but their reputation sucks for quality and service.
I found an actual dealership owned by a lovely young lady, and almost made a deal on an $850 USD bike until she said she could not accept a credit card... Drat! I tried some cash machines but had no luck. And, as usual with most impulse buys, I came back to earth realizing that amount is over $1200 Cdn, way too much for only a month's use. Right now I am thinking of asking Teresa if she would be interested in going halves with me, because I am intending to leave it for her....
So, before 7pm we are heading out to eat and then to listen to their favourite band for a while. I may add a few photos later.
Update: We went for a fabulous supper at Yakumama, and I took Billy's suggestion to try the beef salad, which I had never heard of before, and it was fantastic!
It tasted as good as it looks, delicious!
Then we moved a block over to a place called Casa Yangol to hear Blues Enigma play. They are led by an older German lady named Claudia and she is backed by 3 Ecuadorians, an Argentine, and 2 Venezuelans. Aband incorporating a fiddle, saxophone, flute, and harmonica makes for a lot of interesting tunes. Have a listen, and see Billy and Teresa dancing:

The music was great and we ran into two more old acquaintances. The only downside was the bill of $37 USD for a beer and 2 juice drinks.... I won't be going back there....
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
