After sleeping 12 hours I still had 3 power naps during the day.
I took the Pixels electric bike out and remembered the back road to arrive at the SuperMaxi parking lot. I picked up 3 bottles of wine and made my way back down Ordonez Lasso.
When I reached my turn, I looked up and saw the Cajas range looming above me so I decided to continue a bit further to refresh my memory of the exit to the Cajas.
Coming upon a traffic circle, I remembered that I was now at the back entrance to the suburb called San Joachin. I knew that my old Coopera comrade Marco lived in a monster old house nearby so I went for a visit but nobody was home. I could not even contact him using the old phone numbers I had on record. I will make a return visit before I leave.
Today was the day we had shopped for, so Dawn could host and cook for a dinner party for Teresa and Billy and our friends Gustavo and MaryAnn. It was a day-long challenge to cook at such a high altitude and to work with local spices, etc. What we had been told by store employees was beef gravy turned out to be chili sauce and that nearly ruined the meal but quick-thinking by Dawn and Teresa saved the day.
We had to cope with rain and a power outage, but all went off without a hitch. The meal was delicious, topped off with blueberry/strawberry cheesecake brought by MaryAnn. Good lifelong friends like this are a blessing.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
