After chores I helped clearing up and washing dishes from yesterday's successful afternoon event thrown by Teresa and Billy. 27 people came which was very close to what they expected.
I then napped and napped until it was time to shower and get ready to meet friends at Joes' Secret Garden yet again, this time for the Christmas turkey dinner. I was joined by old friend from the Coopera days, Graciela Estrella, and vast friends Gustavo and MaryAnn. A friend of MaryAnn's from Gettysburg named Mark was a wonderful dinner companion, always wanting to absorb more Spanish.
Ken and KP certainly did not disappoint with the great meal and the wine, and Janet was doing her usual amazing job with the photos. Graciela got to pose in every room and really enjoyed herself.
A very pleasant surprise was the appearance of the daughter of the kitchen stalwart, Blanca. I have known "little" Sandra since she worked there in 2012 at 13 years of age. Now, she is this beautiful young lady with poise, good English skills, and she is now a nurse!!!!! I am so proud of that little munchkin!!
If a person can't spend Christmas with family, the next best thing is good friends,.... and I certainly have a lot of those in Cuenca. Thank you Gustavo, MaryAnn, Graciela and Mark. And Ken, KP, Blanca, Angel, Sandra, and so many others that make Joes' like a second home for me.
