Friday June 5, 2015
This morning I had to pack some gear and catch a couple of buses to get across Calgary to Forest Lawn for the funeral of my sister Leonie's mother-in-law Doris Lyttle.
All her children except one were in attendance at the lovely Holy Trinity church and family friend Father Jack  Bastigal officiated.  Leonie's husband Brian did a reading and the thank-you's, while their son Kieran also did a reading.  Many lovely tributes were made to the amazing woman that was Doris Lyttle, who always had a smile in the face of all adversities and always had great food on the stove.
There was a nice lunch in the church hall where I think I have convinced father Jack to visit Ecuador....  This was followed by a short graveside service where Doris was buried in the same grave as her husband Joe who had passed away many years before.
Then most of the family gathered at her son Joe's large acreage near Springbank and everybody enjoyed good drink, good food, and good company.
I am spending a couple of days at Leonie's, in the country, between High River and Longview.    A mile from their home we had to brake hard because we had bookends of deer on both sides of the road.  Finally they both got on one side and we were able to proceed.
Then 1/2 mile from home there was a horse family with a new chestnut foal that was begging to have his photo taken.
The night wasn't over with surprises because we had a serenade from 4 coyotes that was incredibly loud and caused a neighbour's herd of cattle to move away quite rapidly.  Then the 4 coyote's showed themselves and ran up the back 40.   As I was trying to catch a shot of two of them, I accidentally also caught a small hawk on a fencepost....   Gosh, I miss this country!!!
I hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al
