We were walking with the 7 dogs again at 4:55am without incident under a pretty clear sky that showed my favourite constellation, Orion, overhead. Sleep was not that easy afterward and I forced myself to get up at 10am to do chores.
After a delicious lunch I decided to challenge the search for reasonable hotels in good areas of Medellin and Cartagena that would have the required breakfast, air-conditioning and wi-fi, and supply sheets and towels... yes,.. because some charge extra... And good ratings and reviews are a must!
Monday night we had booked the 3 flights, so having a decent place to stay came next.
We found the "Living Hotel" in the good area of Medellin that fit the bill and made contact with 2 former Cuenca residents that live in that part of the city. One couple will be away, but gave us good recommendations, including an English-speaking Taxi driver friend they have used for 7 years. He has already agreed to pick us up at the airport. So, we have a good start there...
Next was tackling Cartagena, on the Caribbean coast, so being near a beach for 5 days was important, as was being close to the airport and the old city... The "Oresca Hotel" was right in the triangle at a great price and it came with rave reviews...
So, like always, plans come together and we can look forward to enjoying the holiday.
Cristina's uncle Raimundo was supposed to visit this evening but he didn't show......
Another busy day planned tomorrow.
