Yesterda, we took Zorra to the vet again for another round of injections and picked up a whack of medicine, new dog bowls, treats and more. I must say that the nose problem is obviously better and even the incontinence seems vastly improved!
Then we went and spent a lot at LA14 because we were out of a lot of things. I happened to spy a hot air popcorn maker there, a definite rarity here so I grabbed it. Later I tried it out and it pops perfectly! The only problem is it heats up so much that it shuts itself off for a period to cool down. Anyway, I decided it was much bette than the old one which I donated to Aram as we watched UFC.
It so happened that one of his "friends" from Kurdistan, Makwan Amirkhani, a fighter out of Finland where they chummed around, was also fighting. I mentioned to Aram that I shouldn't watch him fight any more because he always does badly when I am watching.
This morning I was rushing to be at David's by 7am with dessert in the form of "chicharon", a very sweet pastry from the bakery a block away. I bring dessert each time as we gather with Wolf and Cesar to watch racing. David orders breakfast from the German restaurant which Wolf picks up on his way. We switched from the usual sandwich to their mild curry sausage in tomato sauce. Good decision.
Today we began with Formula 1 racing from in the mountains of Germany where it was cold and threatening rain. Bottas had the pole, followed by Hamilton and Verstappen. Bottas had brake and engine trouble and had to retire early. My guy, Charles LeClerc, started 4th but later struggled to stay in the top 10. Our main Canadian driver, Lance Stroll, was sick so emergency German driver Hulkenberg was pressed into service and, starting from last place (20th), had a grand race, moving up to 8th place, in the money, just behind LeClerc. Lewis Hamilton got a good start for Mercedes and basically led the whole way, winning his 91st race, tying him for the record with the amazing Michael Schumacher. Congrats Lewis! Second was Verstappen for Red Bull (Honda) and a gutsy 3d was Daniel Ricciardo for Renault. There were a couple of crash incident, car problems and 5 drivers did not finish.
Next on our radar was the MotoGP race from Lemans France where it was rainy and cool. My main guy, Marc Marquez, is still out with the broken arm. My #2 guy, Dovioso, had a good position and a great start, fighting for the lead, and getting it until he had problems and was shoved just out of podium positions to 4th. My #3 guy, Fabio Quatrararo, on his home turf in France, had the pole position but had a bad start and couldn't handle the wet conditions, finished 9th, but kept the Championship lead. My #4 guy, Brad Binder of Soth Africa, was not a factor at all. Perrenial favourite, The Doctor, Valentino Rossi, crashes early. The race was tremendously exciting as other fave Alex Rins made a valiant run for the lead before crashing. The story of the day though was my #1's younger brother, Alex Marquez, an unknown quantity in MotoGP, or in the rain, starting 18th, and finishing 2nd!! MotoGP has been amazingly wide open this year without Marc Marquez's dominance, with new people on the podium almost every race. Today was the turn of Danilo Petrucci, Alex Marquez and Pol Espargaro. Dovioso was 4th, ahead of other Frenchman Johann Zarco. Great racing fun...
On the home front, I was happy to see Tom Thumb back at the feeders. He has been a little skittish when I am out there again, but is now getting accustomed to my presence.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. Lots of them today and a bugger to upload. That was the day’s excitement.
