Happy 55th Anniversary to my dear sister Yvette and her husband Lou. Love you guys!
Last night we had to rush Zorra to Huellas, the vet, because she was bleeding from the nose badly. She got some coagulants and the bleeding eventually stopped. We brought her back in the morning and in the afternoon for more shots.
Zorra is a dog we took in because her owners wanted to put her down. She has an incontinence problem that we hope to solve finally. Bloodwork was taken to send in to a lab to see what problems could be causing this. She really is a good dog and keeps pretty much to herself.
I took a video of the tiny kitten that Cristina has also rescued from death's door with her dogged determination to help helpless kittens and puppies. These innocent, curious animals are just a delight. Check it out:
I finally waited long enough to spot Tom Thumb checking out the feeders. He tested first the one showing nectar and he didn't seem to like it, going over to check the empty one, then flew off, probably disgusted with me... So I re-did the feeders in my normal fashion with more exact ratios of sugar and water and hopefully he will soon be a regular visitor again.
I hope that I am not freaking anyone out with the spider pics. I find spiders positively icky like most people but am fascinated with these species just the same. The larger Golden Silk Spider today is actually pretty small, around only 3" tip to tip. Zoomed in, he looks bigger.
The tiny Jewel Spider is only the size of my small fingernail but again the zoom, being about 4" away, enlarges and gives us some detail. The incredible complexity of his underside, with all those hairy legs is positively fascinating.
Then I saw something on a post that I thought might be another Jewel Spider, very small. But the photos seem to confirm that it is more likely some type of winged beetle (6 legs?).
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
