Monday October 26, 2020
There is a valid reason that Mondays are hated, unless it is a long weekend. Usually we drag a tired body back to work and suffer Murphy's Law all day.
Again, Nativa supposedly had the right authorization this time and was at our door when I returned from my walk with the dogs. So we went into Tulua at 5:50 to wait in line for the diapers. It was raining, so she sat on a chair we brought under the awning, first in line for a whole hour, and nobody else. And yet, she was again rejected, even though her daughter had assured her that all was now in order. We got sent to another office, then another, where the line-up was long. Cristina and I went to Bizcochito to get breakfast for all of us and returned. Nativa had found out that she has to get some authorization signature in Andalucia now?? I can't make head or tail of this ridiculous red tape. And Nativa forgot her phone at our house.
We came back, Cristina napped again while I struggled numbly through my chores before napping myself a bit. Cristina actually takes sleeping aids in the daytime too, which I don't think is healthy.
For lunch, Cristina and I collaborated on frying hamburger almost black, my favourite... with onions, garlic, oil, salt & pepper. We didn't have mashed potatoes and corn, so I made do with nice soft artisanal bread and butter as a side. Yummy....
In the afternoon we had a thunderstorm with a nice refreshing rain, and another nap. Apparently ServiEntrega delivery came to the door with a parcel from her niece and Cristina did not answer, thinking it was the yogurt salesmen who seem to come every Monday.
Cristina had been keeping Lorena's black & white dog, also called Nina, overnight too, so we decided to make a short trip. As we were leaving at 5pm we discovered that we had no running water...
We went to ServiEntrega first but they closed at 4pm. Then we dropped off Nina. Next, we went to drop off Nativa's phone and she was at the door crying. She was having issues about medications with her paraplegic grandson that she cares for. Apparently Victor Hugo wanted to get into her medications and not take his own... He really likes Cristina and me so Cristina got him calmed down and understanding the situation in mere moments. Crisis averted and we got him a little snack. In my boredom I was exercising, just walking in place and Victor Hugo had this huge smile and was copying me as best he could. We must have done that for at least 10 minutes and I thought he would peter out before me but that wasn't the case. He is such a nice young man caught in a bad situation when he was hit by a motorbike when very young and paralyzed along his left side. Nativa and he live very simply.
When we came home again, the water was back working, and Claudia and Daniel came by.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. That was the day’s excitement.
