The PASE DEL NINO parade on Dec 24 in Cuenca is not to be missed. I hurriedly took the first 77 shots in ¾ hour before I had to rush to an appointment downtown, only to find out that it was postponed, again. So, I took a few more shots around Parque Calderon and over by the Coffee Tree (now named something forgettable).

This is a long day for these poor children who must be awake early to be lining up around 9am. The parade starts at 10am and lasts until 6pm with about 100,000 participant this year. I have no idea how many spectators view the parade at some point during the day but I imagine that number must be another 100,000 at least.

These shots are mostly taken within the first 2 hours of the parade and you can already see the weariness of these little troopers.

I wasn't planning on hanging around too long and was being extra careful not to by jostled at any time because of being pick-pocketed so expertly last year. I did not bring a wallet and I carried my cel phone in my breast pocket. I almost had a heart attack when I felt that pocket and the phone wasn't there... A quick check of my other pockets and I thankfully discovered that I had absently placed it in a pant pocket. Whew...

In the interest of time, this may be the only time that I am uploading photos totally UNPROCESSED in any fashion other than changing them to JPG format and resizing them. I will be processing them slowly over the next month I am sure.
