I was delighted to be invited to an Ecuadorian baptism by the Mayancela family at San Blas church. It was also Christopher Alejandro's first birthday so it was a double celebration. There are many events in an Ecuadorian's life where a huge celebration is needed, like baptism, first communion, confirmation, graduation, and wedding, just to name a few.
There were about 6 children being baptized in the ceremony and I really took a liking to the priest and his gentle manner.
The Mayancela family is comprised of their 72-year-old father, five girls and four boys. One of the boys and one of the girls were godfather and godmother respectively.
Afterwards the party continued at one of the family homes.
