Sure didn't get much sleep after the Gala, only 4 hours, and had all those photos to process. I barely got finished that chore when I had to head out to Mall De Rio to take more photos.
There was a stage set up at the end of the food court, sponsored by Burger King. The program consisted firstly of a performance by musicians and singers from the Academia de Opus Art. Their poster says this is a school for musicians, singers, artists and photographers. If I was one of the parents sending kids here I would have been very disappointed, sorry to say. Except for the one tiny young boy (who reminded my of myself at that age) who had lots of moxie, a killer smile, and a decent voice, all the others were very ordinary and mostly off-key.
They were followed by a Christian church-sponsored International Choir. This choir appeared to be almost all gringos and they were conducted by a competent lady named Andrea from Idaho. The voices were good and the harmonies were excellent for a Christmas concert , plus we all got to sing along in both English and Spanish to some old classics. They have another concert at 7:30 pm Dec 22 at the old Cathedral. I doubt that I will miss that one.
Following this was a musical number, All I Want For Christmas, by David Naccari's Dance Mob. David had asked me to photograph the performance so that my raison d'etre. It is very tough to photograph a moving target decently with varying distances and awkward lighting. I also never realized until later that the back of my head is in most of the shots on the big screen... Oh well....
And our Santa from the Gala was also at the mall allowing himself to be photographed with anybody and everybody. He is a great guy! I reminded him that I want a fat wallet and a skinny body this year,.. and not to mix up the two like he did last year...
Hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's excitement, Cheers, Al
