Sure didn't get much sleep after the Gala, only 4 hours, and had all those photos to process.   I barely got finished that chore when I had to head out to Mall De Rio to take more photos.
There was a stage set up at the end of the food court, sponsored by Burger King.  The program consisted firstly of a performance by musicians and singers from the Academia de Opus Art.  Their poster says this is a school for musicians, singers, artists and photographers.  If I was one of the parents sending kids here I would have been very disappointed, sorry to say.  Except for the one tiny young boy (who reminded my of myself at that age) who had lots of moxie, a killer smile, and a decent voice, all the others were very ordinary and mostly off-key.
They were followed by a Christian church-sponsored International Choir.  This choir appeared to be almost all gringos and they were conducted by a competent lady named Andrea from Idaho.  The voices were good and the harmonies were excellent for a Christmas concert , plus we all got to sing along in both English and Spanish to some old classics.  They have another concert at 7:30 pm Dec 22 at the old Cathedral.  I doubt that I will miss that one.
Following this was a musical number, All I Want For Christmas, by David Naccari's Dance Mob.  David had asked me to photograph the performance so that my raison d'etre.  It is very tough to photograph a moving target decently with varying distances and awkward lighting.  I also never realized until later that the back of my head is in most of the shots on the big screen... Oh well....
And our Santa from the Gala was also at the mall allowing himself to be photographed with anybody and everybody.  He is a great guy!   I reminded him that I want a fat wallet and a skinny body this year,.. and not to mix up the two like he did last year...
Hope you enjoy the photos.  That was the day's excitement,   Cheers, Al

Choir recital at Mall De Rio

This kid has an amazing stage presence

Another Opus Art soloist

The whole group

Lots of kids hoping to be stars

It is kind of a cavernous place for decent sound...

The finale for Opus Art

The Pastor introduces the International Choir in very good Spanish

The choir is saying "Mr Music please..."

I know many people participating in the choir

Soloist Glenn did a very good job

Andrea from Idaho is conducting

A flute and clarinet, plus 2 French horns join in the fun

This was the beginning of the sing-along

So we all sang along, even Ecuadorians joined in

Nice to have the words on the screen instead of the back of my head

Two French horns doing English & Spanish music... lol

The crowd was impressed with this wonderful choir

Great old Christmas classics to sing

They even turned off the microphones

This certainly is worth seeing again.

All sponsored by Burger King, with the screen hiding McDonald's..lol

Such beautiful harmonies from this very large group

Mr Music, ooops, Mrs Music at work

They made the Gringo community proud

Tried for the reflection in the French horn

Great job by the International Choir!

David is ceremoniously placed all of his dancers

Many practices are required to perform one routine

"All I want for Christmas", great tune for this..

Lots of choreography by David

The group was amazingly in sync

The Ecuadorians had no idea what to make of this, totally different

Lots of hand motions, footwork and hips in motion

The Mob is having fun

"All I want for Christmas... is.. youuuuuuuuu"

Even some Macarena moves

Fun, fun, fun

More footwork

Finishing off with a can-can routine.  Kids watching close

The final bows

Blowing kisses to an adoring audience
