Today is a historic day, if only to silence and get rid of the tyranny of the demagogue ex-President Rafael Correa.  Correa was a saviour and used abundant oil revenues to vastly improve infrastructure and standard of living.  After getting a resounding majority win for a second term, he thought he was God until the oil revenues dried up and he scrambled to maintain his grip.  He changed the Constitution to allow him to campaign for a third term, expecting that the current President Lenin Moreno would just be his puppet for 4 years.  Thank the Lord that President Moreno has the guts to be his own man, removing so many of the oppressions of the Correa regime.
It is expected that at least 70% of the vote will be "Si" votes in a referendum to overturn many of Correa's unpopular rulings which he pushed through without the consent of the populace.  I was there bright and early to cast my ballot.  Goodbye and good riddance to this pestilence who has stolen our money, lined his pockets, and was bent on selling the country to the Godless Communists.  His presidency was typical of those rulers with a majority in the Assembly and little disregard for the will of the people.  He got loans from the Chinese at exhorbitant interest rates just to snub his nose at the Americans, and he backed the loans with the deed to the Galapagos Islands....  My loathing for him knows no bounds.
The Constitution was completely ignored as he drilled for oil and mined for gold in supposedly protected areas, moving many indigenous tribes from their ancestral homes.  He was anti-business, muzzled the press, and totally controlled the corrupt judiciary.  Anyone who dared to speak against him was branded a terrorist.  In this case, I am glad to be a terrorist.
Happy Super Bowl Sunday...
I hope you enjoy the pictures.  That was the day’s excitement.
