Happy Birthday to my sweet sister Yvette!!
I got called to join some of the Perjudicados de Coopera at 11am at the compound of Economista Oswaldo Larriva south of the Golf Course.
I had hoped to fill an IESS prescription at the Farmasol downtown on the way and had to park a block away and circle construction only to find the slowest lineup in town and couldn't wait.  Then I had to race like crazy to make it just in time to be allowed in with the rest.  I had to come back after the meeting and drive the length of El Centro to finally get this accomplished.
Oswaldo Larriva is a former respected Asambleista in Rafael Correa's government and was tasked to head a commission to look into the mishandling of the Coopera a couple of years ago.  However the commission's report didn't say what Correa wanted it to say and it never saw the light of day when Larriva refused to falsify it.  We asked for a copy of said report, were promised it, but it was never produced.  That also spelled the doom of Larriva in Correa's inner group.  You had to be a skilled liar and toady to sit at the Master's table.
Our group has met with Larriva several times and he has always been a sympathetic ear and resource.  In today's meeting it was brought up that the liquidators of Coopera have spent over $12,000,000 in administering the Liquidation, an amount that was more than sufficient to pay off the rest of the investors!  And there are still around $58,000,000 unaccounted for...
It seems that Monday or Tuesday this group will accompany Oswaldo Larriva to speak with the Liquidator to get some answers...

The compound of the Larriva family is lovely, nestled along a river between 2 mountains.  There are several buildings on the property and today's meeting was held ouside in the sunshine near the chapel.  I took a couple of shots of one flowering bush where the flowers looked to me like miniature hummingbirds....  What do you think?
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day’s excitement.
Cheers, Al
