Wednesday, I felt even worse, almost like I felt after getting out of the hospital 6 months ago, weak, dizzy, hurting everywhere.. I am getting so frustrated at the lack of progress
and the ineffectiveness of the physio.
I also got Buzzer back, with a new battery, at no charge. They did not install a secret switch for the alarm, instead the buggars disconnected the alarm so now I have to
pay someone else to do it. I called up Diego who had installed the alarm and he said that he had just got out of hospital after 20 days (no details) so I will wait for him to get better.
I think my experiment with G+G to do my IVA return is going to end. I just got my bank book updated and they are doing a lousy job of claiming all my receipts. One is more than $10
less. Every payment is lower than submitted, and I never had that problem before. I guess that I will have to spend the time to try and submit them myself again.
Thursday we went on a nice long (but cool) ride to Challuabamba. Then we went to Valla santa maria for a bite but the powers-that-be decided it was too expensive. So Christian suggested we go to a place with a lot of options, just 2 blocks past the IESS hospital. I said that would mean it would be just behind my house... and it was! Right next door! Anyway it was a heavy meal for 10:30 at night and I only had $20 bills on me so I paid for everybody, and they were most appreciative.
I am doing this Blog early this morning, just because of the way the day is unfolding... and I have so much on my plate...
I walked the dogs and saw another lovely sunrise developing, and saw that they are setting up tents and a stage in our community center, so we can expect a fiesta happening. Later, as I am writing this, I can hear music already, so maybe the fiesta is today???
Then we saw an ad for a Motorola G4 phone for only $150 so I called right away and will meet the lady selling it downtown, right after my 10:00 am meeting with Teo, my Spanish teacher.
Then our washer quit in the middle of a cycle last night apparently. It was beeping when I went to bed and I saw that it was full of water but I was too tired and I just unplugged it. This morning Cristina tried to get it going and it was a no go. A closer inspection revealed that the drum had fallen down, and even the upper part was showing some damage, so I fear that repairs on a 5.5 year-old machine will not be worth it,.. so I obviously will also have to pony up for a new machine.... Ugh. It is these emergencies that a person must be prepared for... NOT!
I also saw that the exchange rate for $USD dropped some more to its lowest level in months, so I contacted my Canadian bank to do another transfer.
I have more to impart, but I am out of time... Got too many things to get done today.
UPDATE:
Had a good visit with Teo and then went and picked up the Motorola G4 phone with charger, and 16gb memory for $160... such a bargain, I could not pass that up.
Stopped by the community park where a band was playing and the schoolkids were grooving to the music, as were a few neighbourhood women. The booths were mostly for us to take pride in our park and to get information on services. I was interested in the panic button service that some neighbourhoods have. I am pretty certain that she said I would need to apply at the 911 office and that 50 people from the neighbourhood need to join in... I have heard good things about quick action in the community when that button is pushed....
Later I see what damage has been done by Ecuadorian law to my wishes in my end-of-life documentation..... Not really looking forward to bowing to the idiocy of their laws.
