Thursday March 2, 2017
Wednesday, I made it to Spanish class and witnessed Teo and Carlos interviewing prospects for teaching positions.  Teo has contracts for teaching Ecuadorian children and adults English, so he needs a few staff to expand.
Strong clouds and thunder formed just as I was leaving so I did get caught in a bit of a downpour before reaching the safety of home.  The late afternoon was just gorgeous.
While I am extremely disappointed in my progress regarding the ongoing paralysis, I note that my vitamin pills no longer get caught in my throat, .. so at least something has gotten better in the last while.
Cristina has the touch for rejuvenating the poor baby birds who had prematurely fallen from their nest.  They have almost full plumage and one is already flying around the room.
Coral was certainly busy on Wednesday after the long Carnaval holiday with everybody needing to re-stock their pantries.   I was sure that my bill was going to be close to $200 when I looked at the bulging cart, so I was deliriously happy when it was just $100.
I also had to go to El Centro to return the bill of sale copy for my phone, the photocopy wasn't sufficient.  I also had to go to the La Victoria electronics store on Gran Colombia to get black printer cartridges.  Then I motored over to the Kywi hardware store to replace some broken drill bits and finally picked up a decent stapler for household repairs.
I haven't been sleeping all that well so Thursday was catch-up day.
The rain abated enough for me to join the Herederos for the Thursday ride.  The Rio Tomebamba is still quite high, swollen from the many days of rain.
Our ride tonight was to go to Sayausi in the northwest, then to a bike function at the big Yamaha dealership by the bus station.  However the threat of rain shifted priorities and we went to the Yamaha function first.  It is amazing what they ask for prices on some things, a kids bike for $3,000 and some as high as $26,000.  The have a small bike museum on the second floor that was quite interesting.
Then we went to the new burger joint run by one of our members, Christian.   He and his family served us some pretty good food for a reasonable price.   I don't often go along for the late-night snacks, but I am glad that I did this evening.
I hope you enjoy the photos. That was the day's excitement. Cheers, Al
